Having worked as an EMT for some time, my advice is to leave off any kind of watch or ring while you do workouts that relate to lifting or moving weights, including rowing machines, etc.

I was called to gyms a bunch of times and the cases where jewelry were involved were not pretty. Style and looks aside, you can hurt yourself badly. Steel is harder than skin and bone and your body will break earlier than your jewelry.

This may not go over well with some but wearing a Rolex in the gym is like wearing sunglasses in doors....

Agree fully. No need for a watch in the gym where the time is posted virtually everywhere including your phone which most have on them.

Last week my apple watch wasn't charged so I wore what was already on my wrist. No big deal except I had to check the seconds hand instead of having the watch vibrate when my 2 minutes rest was up.

Always worn mine at work, gym, firearms training and diving in the keys. Put it on my insurance home policy and never worried.

Wore my sub 16800 for over 20 years while in the Army until now. I swam, run, climb mountains and went to the combat zones with this watch. It is a rugged piece of watch that is amazingly durable.

What caliber and how many rounds weekly? I'm interested in what the Rolex can handle. On second thought, you better PM the answer to me as the forum owners aren't big fans of firearms discussions--even if related to target shooting or legitimate law enforcement usage.

For me, thousands of rounds a week, loose and linked.

As it should. Lose the strap.

I sure don't need anything else in my life to charge.

You can’t do any serious weight lifting with a Rolex on. If you’re just on a treadmill, sure. But no serious weight work can be done without serious risk of damage to a Rolex.

Don’t wear a watch when lifting each day but have worn it on a few runs.

I was in a dilemma because I wanted to wear my Rolex to work but I usually go to the gym right before or right after work before I stop by my house. I didn't want to leave it in the car or the gym locker so I started wearing it. At first it freaked me out, but I realized that as long as you are aware that you are wearing your watch and be careful, nothing will happen to it. What's funny is that I've seen a few DD's and even a YG SkyD at the gym while I was worrying about my SS Sub.

It’s a conundrum.

I’ve joined a gym recently. I go straight from work. I don’t leave in car or locker.

I now wear pants that have at least one zipper pocket. I stick it in there. Not the best solution. But the best one that I currently have.

i would find it a bit cheesy unless you are wearing and air king or explorer..they rest?humm a dress watch to the gym...i would not, not because of banging the watch..but it seems a bit much, i would not wear an IWC or breitling or any high end watch...seems like you wear the watch to score a date, even though it s not the intention, just my opinion.

I don’t know why I get sucked into these gym threads, but I’ve worked out with “serious weights” with my Rolex on, in our homemade “prison gym” on a compound in Afghanistan, during rocket attacks! It’s just a watch! A sports watch (at least mine are). And I’m not kidding about the rockets...

While I prefer not to work out with a watch, any watch, on the occasions where I've had to (eg, working out at a gym location in NYC that isn't my usual and I'm particularly paranoid that day about leaving it in a locker), the watch has been perfectly fine. Sure, there is more of a danger of getting it banged up, but it's not that difficult to remember not to slam my wrist against anything while I'm bench pressing, doing squats or putting on and taking off plates from a bar, and running with it is annoying, but even though the watch is at a 'luxury' price it's still tool-watch tough. Again, I don't like the restricted movement of wearing a watch while working out, but it's not THAT big of a deal if I'm forced to. If people can wear a Rolex in a war zone I think a gym will be ok, and I've been regularly going to the gym since I was a teenager and it's not clear to me what people here are doing that will destroy a watch.

As for lockers, I once had a credit card stolen from a locker in Equinox in Manhattan -- the fraud people actually asked if I went to that Equinox as there were other thefts of corporate cards at that location apparently -- so I do sometimes get paranoid about leaving the watch in a locker.

Been wearing my Rolex watches to the gym for well over 25 years. Lately, though I find myself leaving the watch and home when going to the gym. I like working out without having to worry if the watch it’s going to get scratched or banged up. I miss wearing it but makes my life easier while at the gym.

Common sense is often overlooked here. Quoting for solid advice. You don't need to wear one in gym.

I would not. I think the rubber strap fits the gym perfectly though, nice choice.

I’ve heard so many stories of Rolexs being stolen out of gym lockers. Please be careful

I've never worn any nice watch to the gym. I'd worry about scratching it and it would be an unnecessary distraction. I either leave it at home or take it off and put it in my bag before I get to the gym and only put it back on once I'm out.
