Rep 114060 or bad pics?

How do these look?

Appears as tho at the right angle you can see the LEC, but not unless you hit it just right.

Owner told me that the insert is replaced with aftermarket while he sources a replacement genuine Rolex part online, he told me that he dropped the watch which chipped the ceramic and the crystal (there is a small nick).

Reps are getting better and better these days, so I'm curious to know everyone heres thoughts.

The SEL fit looks on par with other gen examples I've seen photos of.

Before you all say it, I know you need more pics, I'll try to get some.

It looks wrong to me. The big easy tell I look for first is the pinion. The 3135 fires not have a hole at the end of the pinion.

Have him remove the caseback. You can always authenticate it by the movement.

Interesting as I was thinking the same thing but saw some of these online that also have that, perhaps its different as this is the 3130 and not a 3135?

I'll just have to opt for a movement pic.

No they are pretty much the same movement except for the date mechanism. Most Chinese movements that are used in reps have the hole. But you must have really good angles in the pics to see them well. I have sometimes while looking at a sales thread have seen what looked like the hole and in other pics it looked capped. But in this pic it looks really obvious. But if he can pop the caseback off, it should be the best way to tell.

Yea reps are getting so good these days it would be really easy to get ripped off! I had a guy bring in a 116610 to sell last week. It had a genuine dial, hands, datewheel, crystal and crown. But when I popped the caseback off it had a 3135 that looked genuine except for one of the engravings on the plate. He purchased the watch from a well known jewelry shop and nobody new it wasn't genuine. It had paperwork with a COA from the jeweler! The case, bracelet & movement were the only thing fake in this watch!

Yeah, I've heard of stuff like that. "Franken watches", reps made with a lot of gen parts.

Again (not to you but in general), can you elaborate?

I’m trying to learn what to look out for.

I assume this one is a little tricky considering this thread has several pics only 3 replies whereas the other thread with the 116600 has plenty of replies off of just one photo.

Yes indeed Larry,

It does not look the same as my 114060.

I see two other issues with the dial.

And of course the owner had to disclosed the fake bezel.

I agree. It seems, at least on the other big forum, those who engage in fakes often post “is it real” threads to get the experts to tell them what “tells” are present. This allows them to further tweak the fakes and better fool the buying public. Giving feedback enables them to continue the practice.

I’m not accusing the OP, just making a general statement. In my opinion, if one needs to ask they should pass on the watch.
