Aquanaut 5167 or AP RO 15400 blue dial
I have AP Royal Oak 15400 blue dial and have opportunity to buy new Aquanaut 40mm stainless rubber strap ref. 5167.
I only want to keep one and am undecided and want to poll the forum. Between 15400 blue dial Royal oak and Aquanaut 5167 what would you pick? |

The blue dial Royal oak is selling for almost as much as aquanaut second hand... 28-30k. So value is not important I’m just talking about watch vs watch. |

I will pick the aquanut because its so iconic and easy to wear. To me, Patek is the pinnacle of horology.

Aquanaut 5167 or AP RO 15400 blue dial
Nice position to be in. The watches are quite different so it’s a completely personal choice.
A 15400 on a bracelet with a blue dial is different to a rubber banded aqua with a greyish dial. I’d suggest getting the aqua, wear it a few times seeing which you prefer and then sell the one you’re not in love with. No problem finding a buyer. I would personally get the 5167 and sell the RO. I’d only choose a 15202 over an aqua. Good luck with your decision. |

As in other thread 5167 for me. Is there anything else you can let go of? These two are quite good.

Have the 67 and a white 400. Push came to shove, I’d keep the Aqua.

I have both but if I had to sell one the first one without any doubt would be the 15400. 5167 is a much more special piece IMHO...

The 5167 and the Blue AP 15400 are my two most worn watches. I’m not sure I could make a decision between the two, as they are such different looking and wearing pieces. If there’s anything else you can let go of instead, that would be my recommendation as well.

I prefer the 5167. You need to wear this piece to really appreciate it. It is under the radar,,,so depends what you like. I would get the 5167 first and decide if you like it,,,it is a marmite watch (some find it a bit light and underwhelming),,,,but I love it,,,such a cool watch on rubber and fabulous dial when you see it up close. Good luck.

Yes, i told, i don’t like the aqua, if sport patek, go for a nautilus (and yes, i know that prices are different story, but i just don’t like the aqua...) So, me, if you, would keep the AP:) Enviado desde mi iPhone utilizando Tapatalk |

I have the 67 and 15400 white dial. Cant go wrong with both but the RO is more value for your money. Rubber or one or maybe the best bracelet is a no brainer for me. Only downside i can think of is the size. You need at least a '7+ inch wrist for the 15400

I prefer the 5167a because it's low key but excellent.
The 15400 is a gorgeous thing but it's big and bling also the lume is poor as is the water resistance. It really depends on your taste whether you like to be subtle or let it all hang out! |

15400 vs. 5167
I'm not quite in your situation but my two watches now are an AP ROC 25960 and a PP 5167. I personally wouldn't be able to pick just one because I think they are complementary to each other.
To me there's nothing quite like the shape, dial, and finishing of the Royal Oaks, especially on a bracelet. It works for all situations except maybe travel (only 50m WR) and very casual (unless I put it on my rubber strap). The Aquanaut is a watch I appreciate more and more over time. The dial and movement are really nice and when it is on the rubber strap, the watch is almost undetectable on the wrist. It is great for travel including water activities (120m WR - don't want to use hotel safe) and will fly under the radar. I like it on a bracelet as well which gives it a different look. So if I had to choose one watch I'd have to lean towards the 5167 because of WR and greater versatility for me. But my initial reaction/advice would be to see if somehow you could get the 5167 and keep both. |

The AP for sure. The 5167 is a nice watch but it's not a beautiful watch, to me pretty average. The RO is another level.

I would keep the 15400. I think it has a nicer dial than the 5167 and the beautiful bracelet.

Other than WR, the RO is a better watch in every respect. The WR is not an issue unless you’re diving or spend too much time on watch forums. Iconic design, historic movement, visually stunning, great finishing, excellent service...
I don’t love the RO as an only watch, but between those two, it’s an easy choice to me. |

5167 for me. Tried on the 15400 and just too clunky and big for me . No doubt it’s a gorgeous piece. The 5167 just wears better on me.

15400 would be too large for me. I would choose 15202.

Easy choice for me. With small-ish wrists this one is so much better than a 15400.

Nice to have both but if have to choose one, it would be 5167.....
Because..... 1. Brand identity is no where near Patek Philippe... 2. No quick set on the date..... 3. Most Royal Oak & Royal Oak Offshore have problem with their crown.... Conclusion.... 5167 for the win..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...ature=emb_logo Date setting...^^^... https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...ature=emb_logo Eric explain about Royal Oak & Royal Oak Offshore having problem with their crown...^^^... Check out the example of the video....^^^.... Again this is just my opinion.... Do your homework and find out what watch is right for you.... Thanks but my 15400 RO is 5 years old with no issue and it has quick set date....you are mistaking my watch and think I don’t already own it. I really don’t like the Aquanaut I think it’s ugly and the only reason I am even entertaining this idea is because it’s Patek. |

It's simple..... If you don't like the 5167..... Don't get it, even if you have the opportunity to buy one..... ![]()

Had a 5167 for a few years a while back. AP would be my pick.
