Buying a preowned watch from DavidSW
I’m looking for a 126710 BLRO and I see that DSW has two preowned in stock both around $16K. I emailed him directly and he told me he can source a new one with plastic for $18K, which is a little high I think. Anyway, I am a little hesitant of buying a preowned one due to the fact that it’s been polished for resale and I am a little neurotic about spending that kind of money on it without knowing for sure how far the polishing has gone. Given the small price difference should I just bite the bullet and buy the new one for $18K?

Both of them are overpriced!
But hey, it's your coin.

DavidSW takes perfect picture of the lugs. Look for yourself closely.
You can see how much polishing has been done. And if you can’t, then no one else can either and it doesn’t matter. See how that works? Either way, $16k is too much for a stainless steel watch with a MSRP of $9k |

I’ve purchased preowned from David several times and the watches have always been in oem condition. He’s a very trusted seller for a reason, also be up front and communicate exactly what you want and expect, he’ll surely respond accordingly, and if and when you receive the watch and it’s perhaps not up to your standard, David will make it right. Upfront clear communication from the beginning will ensure a sound transaction.
That being said if I didn’t have the patience to wait, I’d go for David’s least expensive full set. Stickers aren’t worth $1-2k to me. You don’t even get them at the AD anymore really. |

DavidSW is TS, but BNIB 126710BLRO is asking for $18k seems too high. I think it shouldn't be more than $16K. Offer him a bit lower and see how it goes.

DSW is A++++ so I think the 16k slightly pre owned is the way to go and he may even take 15 for one of those.. |

Listen, the concern over polishing really ended with the 5 digit references. These massive maxi cases can be polished a 100 times and would probably look better the more polished and shaved down the lugs get. Find one at a price you are comfortable with, but the premium from a trusted source is sometimes worth the piece of mind, especially if you dont want to go via AD.

My experience with David has been stellar. Last preowned watch I bought from him was a month or so ago. He had three watches listed of the same model and within $1000 of each other. I asked him which one was least polished and overall condition of the watch. He recommended the one which was recently serviced by RSC. He did say that it was lightly polished and was in excellent condition.
That is exactly how I found the watch when I received it. It even had the invoice of work done at the RSC. BTW, it was the 5 digit coke that I bought from David. If you are comfortable with the price, just ask him about the condition of the watch and take from there. |

The MSRP of Reference 126710BLRO is $9,700. If you want this watch have some patience and buy same from an AD for MSRP plus sales tax.

Whatever you ask David, he will answer quickly and truthfully. Just tell him what you want and you can trust the response 100%.

Did he tell you both of the Preowned he is selling have been polished? I know all these preowned gray watches are pretty scratch free, so maybe they all get a polish? If they have been polished, then give him deposit and tell him not to polish the next one he gets. I’m sure he is offered more of them than he wants.

I’ve always wanted to know who did David’s polishing. From the pictures he posts, the watches look perfect as if the stickers were just peeled off.

There is always something special about being the very 1st and only owner of the watch. But not sure if that is worth $2,000 to you. I guess it would depend on if it is a keeper.

personally i wouldnt spend 2k more for an already overpriced watch just to get it new. with the professional polishing these trusted sellers do, the watch will be like new even when preowned and impossible to tell that it was polished

Honestly, I think it is worth the extra few dollars for peace of mind buying from a reputable seller. No issue about replica, not getting it as described, no hassle. You often buy the seller not the watch. I never buy the cheapest one available and instead spend the extra money knowing I am getting exactly what I want - not that I saved a few dollars. Not worth it at these dollar amounts. Just my .02

all davidSW pre-owned watches are obviously polished, it would be quite naive to believe otherwise. I would say your best bet is to go for a 2018 or 2019 piece, that way you get a watch that has been polished maybe just once compared to an early 2010s where all bets are off. I definitely would not pay the premium for a BNIB, if you want to be the first owner, you may as well try your luck with an AD.

16 or 18K is too much for a SS GMT.
I would only pay retail and am still patiently waiting for my BLRO |

OP,
Sooner of later Rolex is going to ramp back to full capacity. Right now there are lots of Greys sitting on inventory hoping the rich man will buy, buy, buy like previously. They cant let inventory sit forever either. And there are tremendous number of people on the ropes or about to be, all looking to sell assets to survive. IOW, if you can wait I dont think you're going to see higher prices for the watch you're looking for but lower. How much lower? Who knows? But you may even score one at MSRP at your AD. That said, if you value time over $ and have the wherewithal to pay nearly 2x retail, it's your $, your prerogative. In regards to DavidSW. nothing but professional and pleasure to deal with. |

If you're certain on paying above retail, I'd counter the NIB watch down.
They're priced like a used car. Why pay X for the used car when for a couple grand more you can get a new one. Power is in your hands OP. |
