Hi!

Please I'd like to know your opinions about this gilt dial.

Thank you in advance!

That looks like an open chapter ring 5513 gilt dial fitted to watches around 1964 to 1966.

Better and more detailed photos would be required to do a complete check against known genuine examples, but at first glance it looks to be OK.

This Hodinkee article has a good example of this type of dial for comparison:

https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/ro...ference-points

as well as showing many other variations of the Submariner from 1953 to 1979.

The dial does look very suspect and would warrant a lot more forensic analysis.

Leaving aside the extreme yellowness and looking just at the 200m etc. script, there are some significant differences in the shape, serifs and position of the letters.

The OP's dial is the top one and the other one is from the Hodinkee article referenced above.

The shape of the 2 in the 200, the 6s in 660, the S, M A and R in Submariner all look to be slightly different in the OP's dial compared to what is thought to be a genuine dial, and I'm sure there are many other differences as well, probably enough to be very cautious of the dial

Many thanks for your reply and comments, CTech. I agreed that lokks like a chapter ring dial. I found the Hodinkee article very illustrative touigh there are many variants of the gilt years not included.
Kind regards

I agree tha looks very rare even suspect. What I found as a problem is th round S (submariner) compared to the s more like a z in most of the variants i found.
I will try to add new and better pics
Many thanks again!

Check the discrepancies in the other posts and you might not think it looks "ok."

If this was verified legit, what would be a fair sale price for this watch? Curious and learning. Thanks.

Fake dial. Sorry to say. Print is incorrect. Coronet dimensions are incorrect.
