Stopped by the local boutique yesterday and talked about bracelets for this watch. They showed me the racing bracelet on a racing Speedy and said it would fit the CK2998, but not perfectly, and would leave scratch marks on the case. They said the older 1125 bracelet would probably scratch more. Have any of ya'll removed the bracelet and exposed any scratches caused by the end links?

Anyway, they said they are not supposed to sell these bracelets for the CK2998, but they will... they just won't install it themselves.

Great question. I think any end links you install will eventually leave some marks on the lugs over time (metal on metal). I also think it is probably best to approach your local Omega boutique and have them order both bracelets to see which one you like better. The technician at the boutique will install the bracelet/end links properly for you and ensure a snug fit.

What a great pairing my friend and the Daytona in the background is not bad either :-)

Scratches on the insides of the lugs would not concern me too much, unless really visible when wearing a strap. Also wouldn't want visible scratches between the lugs on the case, if visible when wearing a non-curved strap.

As I mentioned, the OB guy I spoke to said they would not install it on the CK2998. Maybe another Boutique salesman would handle it for me, I don't know.

Is the moon watch 42mm? Man, case sizes don't seem too far off. Would have thought 42 vs 39.7 would stand out.

Both wears about the same and the 2mm difference is really in the crown guard only. Love both naturally.

For those of you that own/have owned a Daytona, how does the CK2998 stack up in terms of comfort, overall wearability? I have owned many generations of the Speedmaster Professional and currently own a 116520 (white). It's a great watch, but I keep coming back to this page and admiring the 2998. Biggest gripe I have about the Daytona is the lack of legibility on the subdials and tachy scale. On the plus side, I find it to be incredibly comfortable on the wrist.

No issues with comfort for me on either watch. They're both pretty comfortable and I wear them all day without any issues.

CK-2998 stacks up great against Daytona(s) and the panda dial is hard to beat.

Yeah that's a Speedmaster Pro at 42mm there's pretty much no discernible difference between them when you wear them.

14.37mm for CK vs. 14.78mm of the classic SD 16600 buddy Cru!

Thanks guys.

As you can imagine, it's hard to track this one down to check out, which is tough on me since I've developed quite the "watch crush" on this model. ;-)

I love it, but the thickness is an individual preference thing, and I'm used to a thicker Seamaster 300. Can you go to a Boutique or A.D. and take a look at a FOIS?

Hard to compare the CK to the 116520 Daytona in terms of comfort, since one comes on a strap and one is on bracelet - I'll just say I find both comfortable. That being said, I haven't actually worn the CK on the OEM strap much because I find it a bit short for me. I've mostly been wearing it on a navy blue NATO, but I'm looking forward to receiving a couple of shell cordovan straps that I ordered for the CK.

In terms of wearability, I see the CK as more casual looking watch than the 116520. In some ways, it is a bit more versatile as it looks great on either a strap or bracelet, whereas the 116520 looks best on the oem bracelet (I have an Everest leather strap for my 116520 and decided I much prefer the bracelet). I also think the dial is easier to read than the white dial 116520.

Bottom line - get the CK. if you like the look, you won't regret it. It'll compliment your Daytona well!

.....So, one of the big local Omega boutiques here in Paris confirmed to me that the model is sold out. Not just from Omega to the dealers, but from dealers to customers. World-wide.

Don't know if that's 100% true, but it definitely made me a little sad.

Wish the 19mm lug width on the CK was 20mm for more strap selections. However I am glad that omega stayed true to their original moon watch for the case, dial, and movement.

As a dealer I've never been so impressed and stuggled with selling or keeping a watch. Very impressive... I'll have to let it go and appreciate my existing collection - but man, what a nice watch!
