15300 back on the wrist...

Bought this earlier in the year, ten years old but unworn. Wore it a couple of times but then sent it in for service just before lock-down, given that it had been sat around doing nothing for ten years I thought it might benefit from some new oils etc.

Just got it back, and had forgotten just how magnificent this watch is.

Beauty mate. Love it. Magnificent is a great way to describe it. Was it Audemars UK service Centre? Did they notify you they'd have to change the date wheel prior to doing the work?

The black dial is winner in my opinion. Happy for you too that you got it back and can enjoy it

Is this a thread for sharing wrist shots of our 15300s?

Either way, here’s mine :)

It was indeed UK Service Centre and no, there has been no mention at any point of the date wheel change (although I knew about it from the thread on here about it).

Although you knew the date wheel would be swapped, are you upset at all about it? How do you like the look of the new date wheel? My white dial 15300 needs servicing and I’ve been very hesitant to send it in to AP because of the date wheel swap (also worried about how long it’ll take in the current environment with the pandemic still going on).

I’m in the same situation, seems like the date wheel swap is inevitable at some point anyway - so better to just accept the fact I guess.

I guess we’d be at different service centers, so maybe my answer is not applicable to you, but to me they indicated 8 weeks waiting time when I enquired about a full service not very long ago.

Thanks for sharing the wait time. Nice watch BtW! ;)

When I spoke to the US service center over the phone recently they wouldn’t quote me a time unless I sent them the watch to be evaluated. Even though we have clear evidence of the date wheel swap here on the forum, they wouldn’t confirm or deny that the swap would be mandatory. The only thing they did guarantee me was that they wouldn’t return any parts that had to be replaced. I’m trying to find a reputable independent watchmaker who can perform the service but it is proving to be quite a struggle.

Nice! Looks great on your wrist. May I ask what your wrist size is, I’m guessing 6.75”?

Yes, it´s really a beauty with the big AP logo on top of the dial! I love mine too, and it goes with casual outfits as well as business dress

Doesn’t bother me at all. The look of the original was great, the look of the new is great. Really not something to worry about in my view.

I was quoted 8 weeks when I dropped it in, and the pandemic hit a couple of weeks later. It’s been just over a month since they re-opened I think so about six or seven weeks in total.

AP should use this shot for their marketing promotional material. Really nice shot of 15300

So nice! Wow—10 years and unworn!?! What a find!

Forgive me for being naive, but what is the difference in the date wheels?

The original date wheel is a creamy white while the new one that is being put into watches with the 3120 movement at time of service is more of a bright white. As for the numbers on the date wheel, there’s also a subtle difference in the font.
