Grinding noise when I wind my SM300

I just purchased a 1969 SM300 that was supposedly recently serviced. I notice friction when winding the watch and hear a light scrapping sound while winding. I have more modern Omegas and never noticed this issue. None of my automatic vintage watches have the same drag effect when winding them.

I would appreciate your thoughts...

There will be friction, and you will definitely hear the gears turning as you wind it. The wind should be smooth and consistent and gradual increase in tension as you approach full wind. If it is accompanied by an irregular variation in the winding strength required, you should have it checked out. A "grinding" noise doesn't sound normal, but ones person's grind is another's normal vintage sound.

Mine is not nearly that old but I can definitely hear the gears while winding. Is it keeping accurate time?

I am accustomed to some noise, but the winding operation has a lot more friction and exhibits a louder sound than any vintage watch I've had to date.

I'm taking into a local Omega specialist. The American 550s had a rep for wear. Hopefully, it's something that's easily repaired.
