5500 explorer dial variants ...

here are some different genuine dials for this reference ( production time is from the end of the 50s up to early 70s ) :

1) special two-tone dial ; inside has a silver glossy finish , outside a white matt one ( end 50s - early 60s ) :

2) " superprecision " with underline , black glossy finish ( early 60s ) :

3) champagne with matt finish ( end of 50s - early 60s ) :

4) champagne honeycomb finish ( middle 60s circa ) :

5) black matt finish " standard " dial ( 2nd half of the 60s up to production end ) :

just a couple of small points :
a) a big thank to some unknown friends ( I have used the pics but I don't remember their names , sorry ! )
b) other genuine dials not included in my post are more than welcome : the Explorer world is very complicated tough quite fascinating ... so most likely there are other dials to share .

I've seen more honeycomb dials than black dials strangely
