We had this same thread a few months back and it in most cases brings out the same cringe factor to men. Which is strange because back in the middle ages men carried the purses on their belt.

Not to be too graphic but one has to wonder why it causes such testicle shrinkage to see, or imagine ourselves with a purse, man bag, etc.

We can all do a backpack over the shoulder, or a document size leather bag or even a fanny pack (when it was in style) but if it's a PURSE we run like hell screaming to the nearest biker bar to order 2 shots of Jack Daniels to reclaim our manhood.

We are kinda strange. It's just a bag that hold stuff.

I’m so secure I wear a pink gold watch! Women need a purse to carry tampons, lipstick and because those tight pants don’t actually have pockets. I don’t need one. If I need to carry important crap (like death star plans, or booze) then I want a breifcase or something that can be weaponized and used as a PDW. That’s Personal Defense Weapon for you purse wearers

PS I’m giving Fat Ninja a pass because a Ninja has to blend into his surroundings and still carry cool ninja stuff like throwing stars and glass packed smoke bomb things.

I use one all the time when going out or traveling and still have and use the one my wife bought for me while in Paris in 1984.
I'd be lost without it.

IMHO, I think it is a mentality that's instilled at a young age. You either have parents that teach a philosophy that it's okay to embrace things that are effeminate or parents who teach their sons it's wrong to like 'girly' things. I feel like neither is wrong, and it should be an individuals' choice to make that decision.

Best post for the entire first quarter of TRF. Plus I’m quite confident he has no idea what you’re talking about and if you made him to understand he would disagree with you anyway.

PDW!!!! Total awesomeness.

Besides you’re right about just using a briefcase or even a backpack for a man.

Obviously you are probably correct.

But it still begs the question, why is carrying something that holds your stuff considered effeminate?

If you carry a backpack over your shoulder you're fine but if you carry a leather bag in your hand, you're effeminate?

That was my point. Just seems strange we differentiate it.

I have the full size recon in chocolate leather I use at work now that I’m in a suit everyday. The smaller ones might pass as a purse but the full size is clearly a messenger. I don’t carry a whip like Indiana Jones but I do usually carry an extra set of cuffs, extra magazines, second tourniquet, quikclot, extra batteries and a backup flashlight. Plus a power bar, notebook an extra pens. Fits all that and more. If I’m not is a suit and tie I carry a backpack from Defy (bucktown canvas), London Bridge Trading(day pack or 3day), or GoRuck (GR1 or GR2, built in USA version, vet owned business) depending on my needs.

All my bags are handmade in the US and are indestructible. I doubt any of the fashion brands could hold up to the abuse these bags go through.

If someone wants to call it a purse I really couldn’t care less. After over a decade in the military and in LE I live by the principle it’s better to have and not need than need and not have. If I need to shove that $#!+in a purse I’ll do it.

OK let’s talk reality here shall we?

Billions of men carry those few things in their pockets. You’re using it as an excuse to have the bag. You just want the bag. It’s all good. After all it’s a satchel not a purse.

Nice try. I’d be willing to bet an awful lot that you wouldn’t like George S Patton in real life.

I like a lot of people in real life. Probably even you.

People who I disagree with I often like even more. I always say I rarely learn anything from people I agree with.

Moving on.

I use a Brady Aerial trout bag when i am travelling. Great bag, bought an insert that replaces the waterproof liner. Press studs right in.

Generic picture, as not a post without pics.

If I need to tote a bunch of stuff I use either a messenger bag or a gym bag. If I'm making a real foray I'll pack a backpack.

No merse. They don't even look right on a Frenchman, and those dudes get away with a lot. Like berets.

No fanny pack. Unless you're a U.S. Marine on deployment, just don't. And even then, he'd better be an NCO.

Was at NY Jets training camp this past summer at Atlantic Health. Guy walks through the VIP section rocking an LV man purse.

It was an absolute sideshow.

That's a briefcase; it doen't count as a man purse!!! I've never been considered effeminate so I don't care what others feel about it. Totally secure in who I am. Maybe I'll be considered European.

Call it what you may .. but there's no way I'm carrying all that I carry in my pockets. It would look ridiculous and be most uncomfortable with bulging pockets.
I'm not wearing 'cargo pants', ya know.!
