Submariner Rehaut Engravings look sloppy and ceramic bezel scratched

Hello everyone this is my 2012 rolex hulk submariner ive had this watch authenticated by 4 trusted watchmakers now but the engravings look off compared to my other rolexes granted theyre all newer. Its not that theyre misaligned or crooked by in the engravings themselves under magnification it looks like the outlines are scratched up for lack of a better term is this normal? Also the bezel has a few hairline scratches which bothers me a little bit when its supposed to be scratch proof here are some pictures of the rehaut and the scratched bezel because i know alot of people think these bezels are impossible to scratch

Ceramic bezels can be scratched by materials that are harder than them, such as diamonds, for example. Some members have used a rust eraser to remove scratches from ceramic bezels. Here’s a thread:

You’ve already had the watch authenticated by 4 trusted watch makers. How many more watchmakers saying it is real do you need for satisfaction?

With regard to ceramic, guys like Tim Mosso would have you believe that ceramic is scratch proof and forever new. That’s his job. Then reality hits and simple law of physics states exactly what Omar above said. Anything harder can and will scratch ceramic if the pressure of contact was significant enough.

Do enjoy your new watch. Overthinking things sucks the enjoyment out of it

Afraid today things like loupes high magnification and the rest of today Rolex toys, can and will be a Rolex owners worst nightmare. And nothing is really 100% scratchproof as hit anything with a material harder that the other it will scratch.Ceramic bezel inserts can even shatter hit them hard enough then very costly to replace.

Engraving looks normal and everything scratches including ceramic bezels.
Throw away the loupe will help

If you really want a more perfectly refinished watch you have to look for other brands. Rolex is far from perfect in this department

I’d rather send my watch one time to RSC to authenticate

Stay away from the loupe.
If you still have any doubt about authenticity, send it to your RSC for final piece of mind and enjoy your watch.

Enough people have verified it for what it is all I’d say is enjoy it. And as others have mentioned everything can scratch in time

Echo the others, stay away from the loupe. If it's not egregiously bad with the naked eye, just enjoy it.

Know that these watches aren't perfect by any means, despite the cost; yours isn't defective, it's the way these watches are made. Looking at it with a loupe is setting yourself up for disappointment as a result. Every one of these watches probably looks pretty bad in different areas when using a loupe.

Sounds to me like the OP expects perfection out of a $15K watch. Silly.

Seriously, put down the loupe. Either enjoy what you've got for what it is, or sell it and move on.

Although nothing is truly scratch proof, you may want to look at Rado, they make a nice watch and many of them are made from nearly-scratch proof ceramics.

Hmm, I wouldn’t sleep well until it was authenticated by at least FIVE watchmakers.

Kidding. Just enjoy it. Such a beautiful watch!

Rehaut is a great thing to check and boy have you done that! 4 watchmakers?! Thorough. Nice pics btw. If only everyone took pics like that.

Apparently not trusted enough.

The choice is easy and fully under your control.
1. Put the loupe away and enjoy your watch.
2. Sell the watch.
3. Send it to a RSC for a service.

The bezel is susceptible to damage. It can scratch, crack and shatter, it's just not very likely. A bit like the old bakelite insert on the 6542 GMT Master, but much stronger and fade resistant.

Its just the older double line style engraved rehaut. These were up to and including 2015. 2016+ came the laser engraved single line rehaut.

The older one was manually engraved, the newer one laser engraved.

I myself like the older double line rehaut much more.

The clasp engraving was also different on the pre 2016 subs. It had a darker engraving on a sand blasted finish while the newer one have clean looking engraving on a polished finish.

Slightly different crown guards on the pre 2016 subs too, the later update looks better imo..

Yes, that's also true, they were like a bit fatter on earlier ones and more sharper / pointed on the later ones.

Makes me realise what nerds we are to know these things :) Today one person in FB group called the double line rehaut as fake. I was angry how could you not know that and started explaining it to the mortals :)

Sell it, and look for another. If 4 watchmakers have authenticated it, and you still aren’t convinced it’s genuine, it’s not bringing you joy. Get rid of it!

At this point of your process OP. I would not trust anyone - 1, 4 or 8 watchmakers unless they work for Rolex. Bring it in to a boutique they will tell you if it is genuine or not. Then you can rest.

It looks like a normal Rolex IMO. Should be fine. Although I suspect the scratch on the bezel is actually a fracture ( based on the photo). Time will tell.

Or this is a option if you can't let it go that it might not be authentic.
