i dont know if its a financially interesting endeavor, but definitely an intriguing project with a nice end result. If you're happy with the end result, that's all that matters really

Great educational forum material though! thanks for sharing

Looks good. Mike and Sal are great and we are lucky to have them in our backyard. If you look at Mike’s GMT, he also has a Pepsi bezel on his personal watch so it can be swapped if you gave access to a blue / red bezel.

That's great, I wholeheartedly approve having just done a similar mod to my 214270 Mk1 to Mk2 (well not quite as many changed parts...!). Couldn't care less about the "purists".

This sets a precedent that we should be extra careful buying 126710 BLRO at secondary market. It might be a modded 116710LN :)

3285 and 3186 hands turn opposite when playing with the crown ... that's a simple test to do

I admire your determination and motivation! But for me I love all my watches being original and get the buzz from chasing the hard to get pieces.

Can’t knock your effort though!

One question OP. People have mentioned in the past that a white gold bezel will not attach to a SS case. Did they have any difficulty attaching?

Cool project brother. Turned out great. Your watch, your money, do what you like. No different than tuning or changing parts on an automobile. Nothing wrong with some mods.

I think you’ve done well with this project and busted a whole load of myths in the process which is to the benefit of all.
Love the pic with your DJ, that’s a cool watch as well.
Congrats.

Enjoy your watch! Funny how it's allowed with the 16710 but blasphemous to do with current GMT line up just because Rolex disapproves. Looks great!

Did you "slim down" the lugs as well?

The newer cases, produced in late 2018s and now, already have the slim lugs. They arent slim per say but have more defined lugs. Same story with Daytonas cases as well.

From the pictures it’s subtle but the lugs don’t look quite right. It’s a tell. Amongst others already mentioned.

Given the frustration finding a new SS PEPSI GMT at retail, I decided to embark on this journey after I was lucky enough to find a WG Pepsi bezel. I ended up buying a 116710LN and decided to convert it into a 126710BLRO.

I was able to source all genuine parts including GMT Dial, GMT Red Hand, and Genuine 69200 Jubilee Bracelet. Luckily everything went in without a hiccup thanks to the great guys at @Rolliworks. Mike and Sal are just great!! I am so glad that they are local and I can go bug them anytime. Their new facility is spectacular!

The watch ended up costing me more than the retail and sure it wasn't much of a savings compared to what they are selling for in the grey market, well maybe a couple of grand, but at the end of the day there is story to this watch and to me that is worth it.

On to the pictures

Clever boy.
