Lange 1 Moon ph

Looking to buy a Lange Moonphase 1, is the rose gold a little more flashy and have more of a presence than the platinum model? I like the white dials with the moonphase and not sure which one is nicer in person or what people think of those two options compared to one another. I think the rose gold is nicer than the yellow, too. Any suggestions or perceptions or advice is greatly appreciated!

The L1 Moon Phase is a stunner in any variant, in my opinion.

I don't really think you can go wrong with any one of them.

Also, Lange's moonphases are some of the nicest I've seen on the market. The detail and number of stars is stunning.

Lange 1 Moonphase watches have evolved over time. The moonphase is different in more recent models. Unless I'm mistaken, they've never made one with a white dial as a standard-production model, though below is a white gold/white dial model that was limited. You can visit the "Historic Data" tab in this spreadsheet to see the various combinations (current and older) that were offered.

Not sure if this would interest you, but the watch on the bottom right is a 182.030 (36mm Little Lange 1 Moonphase, rose gold case, white mother-of-pearl guilloche dial with a white moonphase disc, rose gold hands). This is an amazing looking watch if you don't have a large wrist. Lange normally sells it on a white strap (marketed to women), but as you can see below -- on the wrist of the former president of Lange North America -- it looks great on a black strap too.

The 182.030 is a current, standard-production model, and I bet they'd put it on a black strap!

Here’s my Pt moonphase side by side an RG (but not moonphase)

Both have great wrist presence. But being white, the Pt would fly under the radar.

Oh right! Some of those were really nice! I remember seeing them in person. I wouldn't be surprised if there's still some availability there, too, if they didn't all sell out.

They surely would.

AD offered me a free blue strap or a discount. I chose the discount

I personally love the black dial. I have the rose gold Lange 1 and the more I look at the black mp makes me want to trade up at some point. The black dial with contrast of blue MP looks stunning.

Do you wish you would have bought the mp originally?

Hi, I have an opportunity to buy a Lange 1 MP at a great price but it comes without the box and papers. However, it is guaranteed authentic, will this be a problem or not? It is a pre-owned but in gorgeous condition and about 12 years old. I plan this to be my last watch and an heirloom for my descendants. I have been saving for it for 2 years. Any advice or opinions is much appreciated! Thanks!

Before buying it, contact Lange to make sure it wasn't reported stolen. Stolen Langes are most definitely floating around out there. Otherwise it won't be a problem as long as it's priced (discounted) accordingly.

Hard no from me, buy a full set with a history of the watch from the previous owner preferably still with warranty if it is a recent model. There are only so many of these watches made and FOUR boutiques in the US, with ONE master watchmaker that is authorized to service it. You WANT to have a good relationship with this brand and not risk something shady going on buying a naked watch. It is unique, rare, and a wonderful brand.

I'll put my platinum here again. Fabulous watches.

Which metal you prefer may come down to your skin tone. Only white metals suit mine, so that made my decision for me...
