Which Sapphire Moonwatch Would You Purchase?

If you did not own a Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Sapphire Sandwich and you wanted one, which one would you purchase and why?

I would purchase the 321. Look at them side by side. The 321 dial is less cluttered and far more attractive. The movement as well. I like the 3861, i love the 321.

The 3861 seems to be the choice for me.

I voted for the 3861, but I'd change that to the 321 if were easily available at MSRP.

I voted 1863 as I prefer the overall watch compared to the 3863. Now movement wise the 321 is my choice and the finishing is amazing all around - if the purpose of the sapphire is to see the movement rather than the overall earth design, then that’s the winner by far. But at more than 2x the cost, you still get plenty speedmaster with the 1863. My preference also leans to having crown guards and the twisted lugs.

If there was a a remake of Buzz Aldrins/Neil Armstrong’s 105.012 with hesalite front, sapphire back, 321 hand finished, and original style bracelet and fauxtina dial, with accompanying moon/Apollo 11 memorabilia, I’d throw down cash in a hurry for that one.

I can pick up an 1863 from my AD for a 20%+ discount, $5000!!! (just picked up an 1861 for $4200). You'd be crazy to buy one at $6300!! 3863 will be discounted within a year and the 321, other than for serious collectors, doesn't seem like a viable choice, want or need for most.

I love the now discontinued 1863. Solid proven movement and beautifully crafted and displayed. Discount if available is a plus!!!

On leather strap I'd be tempted to get the 3861, but on bracelet I'd go with the 1863 no question. Although I like the 321, 'hard to get' is not my thing and I wouldn't be comfortable spending that much on one.

I’d go for the 321. It’s the most unique modern Speedmaster with the classic Moonwatch movement that may not be around all that long. And the dimensions are perfect. Modern yet so very vintage too. Something tells me the production on these will be shortened down the road. Disclaimer: I have a 1861 and I’m on the waitlist for one.

I sent in my info through the Omega website to be notified for the 321. Not holding my breath, but if they do contact me... hell yeah.

I'm surprised it's not "Contact your local Omega boutique" since basically only OB's are getting them at the moment and you need to put 100% deposit.

Where have you heard that the 3863 will be discontinued?

In general, when comparing the Sapphire version to the Hesalite version of the Speedmaster, is there a noticeable difference in the thicknesses of the watch?

Is the display case back thicker than the all metal version?

According to Watchadvisor's video on the new Speedmasters, the increase thickness comes from the hesalite dome vs the more boxed sapphire.

So the Hesalite version is the thicker one, I thought it was the other way around!

Thanks for this.

For the 1861/3 this is true from what I understand, but on the new ones, the sapphire is thinner.
