Off for some R&R again

I'm off to Bahrain again straight after work today. I'll try to log on again from an internet cafe, whilst Brenda is shopping. Should be back PM Friday.

Adrian, I get the impression you spend more time in Bahrain than you do at work. Nice work if you can get it.

Well here I am but no trusty laptop, just an Internet Cafe desktop. Still I can keep my eye on you guys whilst I'm away. We went to one of the hotel bars last night and guess what it's called?........................................... .........................................JJ's. The old bald Kiwi has his fingers in many pies it seems. Substitute smilies etc because they don't seem to work on this machine.

Yes Brenda is off shopping again, it's OK though because she has just had plastic surgery............................I cut up her credit cards. (Substitute another smilie).

Just out of curiosity, Adrian, what's the attraction of Bahrain? And how long does it take to get there from your home base? I plead ignorance of the geography of that whole region.

Bahrain is very westernised. Alcohol and pork products can be had legally, they also have cinemas which are absent from Saudi Arabia. This weekend (Thur & Fri in this part of the world) we watched Mr& Mrs. Smith. Quite a good laugh, I'd recommend it. Another bonus is ladies can dress normally and don't have to worry about having their legs and arms bare. All in all it's more relaxed than Saudi and it gets us away from the hassle.

We drive there from Saudi over the causeway. From home to hotel takes just over the hour as it's at the start of the busy period. It has just taken 45 mins to drive home. This includes immigration and customs.

Here's a small map of the area Ed. Interestingly, there are plans to build another causeway linking Bahrain to Qatar.

Wow, they do have some big engineering projects over in that part of the world, don't they. I was just reading about the residential islands that Kuwait is building. Must be nice when you're literally sitting on top of the gold mine and it's all yours.

Yes most of the countries around the gulf are building those residential islands. Dubai was some great ones that look like maps of the world etc.

That's what I get for trying to remember the name of the country from memory. Of course, it was Dubai that is building The World islands.

I should have learned by now that with the memory banks as full as they are, I am bound to pull stuff from the wrong cache at times.

Hey, I do it all the time. Before Daren gets in, I think it has to do with the aging process.

I also noticed I said "was" instead of "has".

Sounds like we are all affected by CRAFT syndrome (Can't Remember A F**king Thing.) That's been my problem for years.
