IWC Lake Tahoe/Woodland

Stopped into the IWC Boutique in NYC last week and chatted about the new IWC Ceramic Top Gun Lake Tahoe Edition. SA told me IWC is gathering interest inquiries and then will decide what sort of criteria they will use to allocate the Lake Tahoe and Woodland editions. She said she expects previous IWC purchase history to be a factor. Fairly certain I saw someplace these will be limited to 1000 pieces per year.

Surely the criteria will be someone willing to purchase one.

That's the way it should be. I own an IWC and like it very much, but never will I apply to buy one. I'll buy something else.

Not sure this will be the reality, especially 6 months in. The black ones struggle to sell from what I can see.

Curious why you're so sure this is BS... IWC is a brand that isn't typically supply constrained and got quite a bit of press attention with their Lake Tahoe/Woodland Pilot editions.

As we're all aware supply constraint and exclusivity fuel demand which is new for this brand and I thought how they were handling it might be of interest. Do you have information to suggest otherwise?

Agreed. Am curious how this is even 'news'? This is Richemont's typical marking scheme for years. They do the same thing with Panerai in hopes it brings more sales. Am seeing other interesting marketing, like more 'series of auctions' highlighting one brand (and very curious bidding tactics).

Business as usual.

Look, if you like it get it. 1000 per year, every year, is plenty of production for all who truly want it.

I am a huge fan of IWC, the Top Gun line in particular. I own the regular black ceramic version.

But I agree, this sounds like some bullsh*t. One of the things I love about IWC is their down to earth, engineering-first approach. I hope they’re not trying to go in the direction of Rolex et al.

I was ready to talk smack, but i kinda like it. The limited edition thing with IWC is a bit of a joke.

I like the new release. But you'd lose so much cash building purchase history at full retail in their boutiques that it'd be cheaper to buy whatever you really want on the secondary

I have a lot of time for IWC. Their boutique staff are fantastic (even flow me to Geneva for the day for W&W a few weeks ago).

Got to try the Lake Tahoe on... perfect summer 2022 watch for me - should be arriving in a few weeks.

My local boutique had both watches but already sold. If you make a 30% down payment you should get both within a couple of weeks currently one person for each watch on the down payment waiting list at my boutique.

That is pretty cool looking on wrist, and unlike most anything on the market. I wonder how it would look on black strap to tone it down a little?

I just love the blue GMT hand and that moonphase on 6 o'clock subdial!

Got the Tahoe in today.

Really beautiful watch, but not for when you want to be under the radar.

I love it. :)

Depending on the light sometime the dial looks from dark blue to black:

I am still laughing at the branding. Top Gun Tahoe... Obviously, IWC marketing has not spent any significant time at Tahoe. Still, not as bad as Blancpain's Desert Diver.

What an odd thing to take exception to.

But you’re right, the colors from a pilot’s view of Tahoe are way off.

I picked up the Woodland edition in Beverly Hills yesterday. Really enjoying it so far, I have large wrists and think it wears nice on me. Pretty unique piece, was glad I picked it up. Would post some photos but looks like I don't have the post history to do so.

I love the Lake Tahoe white ceramic and am considering picking one up. Looks great. Is the band rubber or canvas?
