For this crazy high price, I would rather go for Rolex Day-Date (PM) or RG 4500V with some wait time next year when they re-open again.

In this crazy market, there is no telling where this will go. Nautilus and RO jumbo are at 100k. Can this be at least worth half that? Seems likely to me.

People don’t actually like them. If I have to convince myself to buy it then I shouldn’t really be buying it.

I think quite the opposite actually. People have always ignored it but now are realizing how under appreciated it was and how much more it offers with different straps, unique blue dial etc.

Exactly. That post didn’t make much sense. All things being equal, I’d have to “convince” myself to buy a Nautilus over an Overseas because the OS is much better looking (IMO), is more versatile with the straps, etc.

I tried to purchase the 82172/000R-9888 boutique edition, but they stopped making it 2 years ago. And I can't find one online anymore.

If people liked it so much it would have sales all along, it wouldn’t need anyone to realize anything. The only reason it’s getting traction now is because people can’t get what they want so they are looking elsewhere.

Is that how the lowly Daytona got popular? People couldn't get subs or ?

Also, it's not like VC advertises at the airport on 40 ft billboards. Sometimes research is required to discover things. I'd never even heard of them and was blown away when I went to see them in person.

I been in and out of their boutique a few times every year in Toronto, obviously their quality is amazing but never felt the urge to buy anything. My personal opinion is the reason they are getting traction now is because how hard it is to get Patek & Rolex from AD’s so people are looking elsewhere

So, because you never felt the urge that means others are settling? Pretty arrogant mindset.

Besides my personal opinion on how I don’t like them! Why have Rolex, Patek, and AP been on fire for years while Vacheron hasn’t? Vacheron has new pieces sold at a discount from the AD with a bag full of goodies to the buyer while Rolex, Patek, and AP have years worth of waiting lines and selling for insane prices on the grey market. There have been tons posts of people tired of waiting on an AD and choosing to go and buy something else.

Why was the chronometre bleu unpopular until it was one of the most popular watches on the planet? There a million examples of watches getting popular because people slowly discover them. It’s not like Piaget Polos are selling at crazy premiums like the Overseas. You are seriously coming off poorly in this thread.

Understood. Not everyone has to like the same things.

I've nearly lost interest in wearing my Rolex watches after getting the Overseas Chrono. I feel like I'm settling by committing to an 8 hr VC-free work day instead of living my best life.

At my AD, customer will have to pay for the new price or get the deposit back.

YoureTerrific has an excellent video about the Overseas in which he places an Overseas next to a Rolex GMT (like in Jonah10’s pic). The top comment: “The GMT looks like a toy watch next to the Overseas.”

Yep. I was over the moon with my Pepsi and Daytona but went for the VC for my 40th. It knocked the shine off the Rolex really quickly. I started to notice little things about the finish and bracelet on the Rolex that annoyed me. The inside of the clasp is the same as my $200 Tissot for example.

With the VC, as time goes on I find more details to appreciate. The way the expanding bevel on the watch head matches the arc of the polished bracelet flanks exactly and echos the pattern. The high polish on the tiny walls of the recessed sub dials and so forth.

Confirmed with boutique. People with deposits will pay new price whenever it comes in. And deliveries are “significantly delayed”
