Vacheron Traditionnelle

Really thinking about this piece as my next addition.

My tastes have been changing, I used to worry about straps and preferred bracelets. I have no almost completely flipped that view. This would also allow me to further pare down my collection and upgrade to a platinum piece which I have never had before.

This piece appeals to me with its simplicity and complete wearlibility. I hope I have a chance to see one in a boutique when I vist later this year.

As far as time only, dress pieces from the trilogy - this is by far my favorite. The only other option I'd consider, which doesn't have a platinum version, would be an ALS 1815. Different overall execution but still really enjoy as a time only dress piece.

In my eyes the 82172 series are the best dress watches across all the brands. It's the peak of "less is more" and class. Love it to death.....have a feeling it's going to be updated sooner than later because Vacheron boutiques across the world have almost no stock of any of these variations now and many of them unofficially discontinued (you don't know until you ask the boutiques).

Vacheron Traditionnelle

I had one largely based off the Hodinkee video, best dress watch under 20K. This watch was such a pleasure, perfect size and the movement side was amazing. I moved it on, for no good reason other than I seem to move everything on.

Good point, I had an 1815 and while I loved it, the size was too much for me in the end.

That is what I am afraid of but I will have to wait and see.

That looks exquisite. I’m wondering if Patek releases a non hobnail calatrava later this year. Regardless hard to imagine regretting this VC. I grabbed a 1921 recently for what would have been a steal 6 months ago. I’m also finding myself being more drawn to strap watches.

What good is a dress piece if you can't dress it down?

You really want the guilloché dial variant it makes such a difference.

Those that own a traditionnelle never regret it, I’d add a custom strap if / when you buy it!

I think the traditionnelle 38mm small seconds is one of the best looking dress watches out there. I find it frustrating that it's featured fairly heavily on the VC website (when you click on the traditonelle line, the 82172 pops up)...When it's not even available. I've actually expressed this frustration to some folks at VC, sounds like they may be updating it soon.

For now I hunt for one on the secondary (missed one a few weeks back on EWC and was annoyed w myself). Or hope they rerelease it, or something similar. Jealous of those who have one!

I’ve expressed this to them, too! Super frustrating marketing materials, IMHO. I mean, they feature references on their site that have not been in production for YEARS. Odd.

I fell in love with the green dial rose gold 38mm and was surprised that it is available for purchase. Even the 35MM rose gold overseas blue dial is available for me to purchase. Torn between the two but it seems the Traditionelle is winning. Any other tips from more experienced VC folks out there?

I'd go for the traditionelle between those two. It's just a finer timepiece IMO. I recently saw the green one and think it is great.
