Mr Softie

Lately we've had some typical summer weather here. Hazy, hot, & humid. Today was no exception, except there was less humidity and the sun was shining all day. Even though I'm out in it all day, I have no complaints. Winter is too long and I'd rather sweat then have to wear long johns.

While on my route today I heard a familiar sound. It was that of the ice cream truck. You betcha I flagged him down by the time he got to where I was. I bought a good old fashioned bomb-pop. For those of you that don't know what it is, it's a red, white and blue popsicle. Boy oh boy did it hit the spot. Not only that, it made me feel like a kid again. As I sat on the back of my truck enjoying my bomb-pop, I didn't have a care in the world. Some of the simplest pleasures in life are the greatest.

It's amazing how a silly little thing like a bomb-pop can remind you of the good old days of being a kid and put a smile on your face from ear to ear

BTW, I got my ice cream and you can't have none........you can't afford it, cause you on welfare..........want a lick?............................SYKE
I can't get Eddie Murphy out of my mind since that last thread about delirious

That floods back fond memories Paulie, once and a while its great to drift back to your younger days.Myself when a boy my parents could not afford holidays,so we used to holiday up my Grandmothers in London. As soon as we got there straight around the shops for a Bluebird ice banana flavour lolly, licking my lips looking at what I just wrote.

I love ice cream too Ed. It's just that this is what jumped out front and center at me at the time. Maybe next time I'll get a cone.

I like the ice creams as well, but for pure refreshment, you can't beat a bomb pop!

hey there's a DQ down the road from us, and the special treat for C once (or twice) a week is to go down there after a swim and dinner and we share an Oreo Blizzard. It's cool starting these 'traditions' hoping that they will give her fond memories of us (parents) when we're long gone.
