My experience with Cape Cod Cloth + BLNR

Yesterday I received 9 packs with Cape Cod Cloth (Hopefully will last a lifetime ) plus the kit with microfiber cloths.

I was a bit afraid in the beginning and since I never thought about posting the experience (which I'm doing now because I got SO dang impressed) I ended up not taking the "before" pics.

Of all my watches, the only one that needed polishing was my BLNR, which is 4 years old and never had the PCL's and Clasp polished before.

I must say:

Man, what a glorious purchase !!

For those here who never tried before, I strongly recommend to give it a try !!

My fear was having the moisture from the cloth, getting over the brushed parts and hence, damaging the brushed finishing but nope ! I believe I would have to scrub a LOT over the brushed area in order to damage it. I'm saying it because even covering brushed parts with a tape, it's inevitable to have the moisture infiltrating under the tape.

After a patient 30 minutes polishing and rinsing the watch with fresh water,
I honestly feel like having 95% of a BNIB watch again !! Obviously it doesn't bring the watch to full perfection like having it serviced but wow, for the price and simplicity........

It really brought me a feeling of having a brand new BLNR again !! Feeling like a kid with a toy

Like I said, I don't have macro pictures from before but let's say it was mildly scratched... (Consider me a careful person but nevertheless, a 4 year old BLNR bought BNIB).

The result:

WOW! Did Rolex polish that for you? Looks cracking!

I've got the cape cod tin but the results are never like this!

Mind giving us some pointers on how you did it?

Took a line from the breitling boys? LOL I swear they single handedly keep the cape cod company afloat lol.

Looks great. Did you use painters tape or anything like that to protect the brushed part from getting “polished”? Pretty sure ive seen that done.

You’re about to ruin your watch, a cape cod is for polishing, your hulk is brushed.

Wait a minute... are you trying to get your brushed finish look back? I’d hope so because you have two different watches and the cape cods will not do what you’re looking to do on your watch... those are made for polishing.

But this is way easier !

I mean, brushing it with a Scotchbrite pad is quite easy as long as you humidify the pad and keep one direction. Plus, the results are usually better then polishing, IMO !

Regarding my polishing, I honestly don't know what hints I could give since I'm completely newbie doing it. It was my first time !!

I could have easily ruined the watch ...

Thank God I didn't !

Cape Cod is a great must have for anybody with brushed center links.

A few years back I listed my BLNR for sale and no one would bite. I spent a whopping $12 on cape cod and 20 minutes of my time and re listed. Sold within minutes and even included the cape cod to the new buyer. It's a great little invention.

Actually, the huge deal for me to get the packs with Cape Cod was EXACTLY because I bought a super high polished Breitling Navitimer 01 last month so I thought... Oh my, I need a truck full of cloths to survive with my Breitling throughout the years but I've been so crazy paranoid cautious with it so it's still looking pristine after 1 month and no scratches whatsoever, including the clasp !!!

The funny thing is the buyer doesn't even wear it on the oyster, it's been on a blue Everest almost every day as a daily wearer

Nice job, OP

Very nice job. I been using cape cod on my gmt2c for years. Maybe a light polish every year. Funny thing is I have actually brush the entire watch with Brillo pad to give it the tool watch look then a year later have it polished again to restore the look. Now I have stick w polish center as I like it better. It’s my beater watch and I def don’t baby it. It’s good to know just with a light polish the watch can look like almost new again.

Probably the only forum where one can ask this question and have a realistic chance of it actually happening - but, would you have a secondary Rolex with a brushed bracelet for a direct comparisson

i personally don't think it looks bad and i doubt a few strokes from cape cod are polishing out the brushed steel.

i wonder how many would really be able to tell...

worst case he can re-brush it with ease.

Edit
My untouched sea dweller shines too.

To be dead honest I can't tell the difference at all it was literally a wipe with the cape cod and then wiped off with a microfiber cloth. Oh well if it's ruined you live and learn hey?

Yep, this. I wouldn't polish mine unless I were going to sell it. Otherwise, it just looks like a "trophy" piece and not something you use. Like a poser. A sport watch you wear is supposed to show the wear of life!

Brushed? Sure. Doesn't look like OEM to be though.

Not terrible though, and easily reversible, but still I don't like the look of it.
