Has the world gone 16710 mad?

So, as can be seen from my signature, I hold quite a varied watch collection. From all these, the watch that draws the most; external attention, admiration, comments is easily the pepsi 16710. Mine has been placed on a jubilee and, I prefer the watch in this config. Further, we are seeing a massive renaissance of this model, prices skyrocketing and, lots of chatter on this forum. Stick dials, 3186 movement, lug hole or none, SEL, etc. Up to $32k for a stickered NOS . The chatter is at fever pitch. I don’t think I’ve experienced anything quite like this since the daytona zenith craze. What do you guys think?

Yah, it's crazy.

I also love my 16710 on a super jubilee.

My favourite watch. I’m considering trading in an MG to buy a second one (2005 SEL). Common sense says to keep the MG or get a DD instead but.. crazy says get another almost identical 16710!

16700 owner, but similar experience, just not the crazy prices like certain versions of the 16710. I hadn't really kept up with the forum/prices for most of 2017 and decided to check watch recon in early 2018 just to see what was going on. I couldn't believe prices were up ~3k what I paid for average watches.

I like the thinner case design, vibrant bezel, and the light weight, all of which make it more wearable compared to the six digit design. I'm glad to have one in my collection.

No better watch than the 16700 and 16710. Perfect in so many ways.

Probably the best watch ever made, by a large margin.

Madness. To think I got my P serial for under $6k not that long ago. Nuts.

Yeah, and in this case, I don't think it's a bubble.

I think that most people who own these are going to hold on to them come hell or high water, so to speak.

Recent 16710 owner, nor really fussed by the watch. Going to sell it shortly given the price movements.

It would be interesting to see what portion of 16710's delivered to and sold by AD's get worn versus get flipped straight away. We are in crazy territory now, but I confess and picked up a brand new model in January. Haven't taken it off since.

I still see used ones for ~10K ish on Chrono24. With box and papers. I like them as my alternate travel watch since it has a number of convenient features. If I ever trade in my 14060M, it will be for one of these.

What will the prices be in 4-5 years? It seems with how rapid the increase its hard to imagine it sustains the climb it has had. Speculations??

Hard to say where prices will go, but I just saw a Rail Dial 77 or 78 Sea Dweller listed for $32,500...

As 16710 owner, great thread. It’s been entertaining to watch the 16710 movement

Withdrew this one from being for sale. Decided to keep it, throw in safe and pass it down to my son. 20 years on forum, this is my first “investment” piece. :-)

I have to say I absolutely love the watch. I would say my most comfortable to wear.
Me bring all Tom Selleck on holiday a few years ago!! Cheers.

The 16710 hasn't been produced for over 10 years, and when it was sold it wasn't flippers paradise. Are you talking about the 126710?
