really?? the bracelet? I knew the case is thicker. It appears the bezel goes further out to the edge of the case.

That’s what the AD told me.

Going over pics it certainly appears that the bezel does reach the edges of the case more than the 15400. I don’t know what a thicker bracelet means though.

I acquired this yesterday. I think it's lovely, the engineering is superb and the blue dial is wonderful, the depth of blue changing with lighting. Initially I was sceptical about the vacant bottom half of the dial, but any hesitation was dismissed immediately I saw it in real life. Also the date window to the right isn't an issue, as it's so small, and to me looks fine. I now believe the choice to lose AUTOMATIC was the right one too, as it helps major on the beautifully engineered dial more.

Just my opinion, and perhaps I'm now biased so would say this, but I feel this is an improvement over the 15400.

Depends on what your buying. I purchased the platinum 44 & got the pen, and I asked for it specifically. My 15400 in silver got me nothing.
The AP pens are great, I have them in silver colour and black. I'm told there's a gold version too, but AP London have never had one. Defo worth trying to get!

I wonder how much of a knock on effect the Rolex shortage has made on AP and Patek.

I couldn't get hold of any of the Rolex's I wanted so landed up putting my name down for a Aquanaut as it was one of my "end game watches" anyway and thought, may as well build a relationship with a dealer using watches that I want to have anyway and thought it wouldn't arrive for a long long time, but my AD really came through.

A friend did the same thing. Just gave up on Rolex and started looking at Patek as well.
It's a shame the VC doesn't seem to get the same love, but the Overseas is just... not right at the moment.

Seeing it quite a lot now, esp from Rolex to RO as the price delta is more bridgeable.

Same here, I am waiting for my first SS Royal Oak (grey dial). When i visited the local AD, there was no problem to get on the order list (not AP boutique). Also thinking of visiting the AP boutique in Frankfurt, which is nearest to me.

Thank you, much appreciated. It was a bit of an unexpected acquisition, to be honest, as up until now all my watches have more complicated dials - my APs are chronos and even my Rolex, Omega and Breitling pieces are similar, the only real exception I can think of being the Deep Sea, when I had it.

But I am very taken with the 15500, the mix of beautifully engineered bracelet and case, with that superb dial very special. It's not too dressy either, which would have put me off. Being used to bigger watches, it's a good size too.

Glad to hear the positive feedback. I’m planning on getting one too just not sure when it will arrive yet. I know it will wear larger but never had an issue with the size of my 15400 so not really concerned.

Doesn’t surprise me. Doubt they will get it. Many ask similar amounts for the silver and black but actual sales prices are closer to 200.

AP run boutiques do 25% as noted above. At least in the states.

Earlier this week, the friendly staff at the Taipei 101 boutique claimed to have a few (2?) 2019 allocations for the grey 15500 left, asking for a 30% deposit to secure one of them. No blue or black, at least for me (no prior purchase).

Very nice AP pen. AP boutique give them off as free gifts but they have some significant second hand value. I got the black one.

Size is relative, of course , but in relation to the 44 ROOs or Rolex YM2s I'm used to, its not big at all. I don't have a 15400 to compare, but assume its pretty much the same size on the wrist?

I placed my deposit yesterday for grey dial, taking delivery in July.. I definitely think they will be trading above retail.

I also placed a deposit for the grey dial with the Bal Harbor Boutique over the phone. They're super easy to work with. ETA provided was July or August. I'm in no rush. Gives me time to offload 1-2 pieces so I'm not completely irresponsible $$ (just a little bit:)

Will be my first AP and I am beyond pumped. Hope I score a snazzy pen too!
