So I had the supervisor respond to my email stating that the marks was possibly there before and the cleaning made it much more visible but they will put material back and make it right. What do you guys think? Should I send it back?

That is BS. They did the damage and need to own up to it and admit they were at fault.

I'm pretty sure that they make a detailed report on the watch's condition when it comes in. Ask to see that.

Obviously the response is total BS.

Exactly so. Ask them to back up their assertion. Don't let them shift blame without accountability.

I’d be following up letting them know that I didn’t appreciate their response in comdtradicrion of the report.

This is one of the reasons we preach about using a respected expert like Rikki. Only one set of hands touch the watch. There is never a accountability question on who is in contact with my watch.
You are essentially playing Russian roulette every time you send a watch to RSC.

Couldn't say it better .. Send it to an RSC and you never know what you will get.

A little update on my situation, after my email the rsc Dallas supervisor got in touch with me and said that the lugs could be like that before but was not visible due to being dirty and after the cleaning it showed up but she would be happy to laser weld and fix the damage. So I said OK what's the next steps? Wanted to set a time so I can bring the watch in that was yesterday and I still have not heard from them since. This is frustrating.

So they say the watch was dirty and they could not see the marks some ham-fisted maniac made on your watch due to the dirt? Unless that watch was encrusted in mud, that is a BS statement. Again, RSC is sidestepping the fact they damaged your watch and will not admit fault.

Why else would they offer to laser weld the scratches and repair?

Right there that is an admission of guilt without really saying so. I am happy they are offering you a solution but I'd be more happy if they said yes, we messed up and we will make it right instead of denying it and covering the repair cost.

I know for a fact those marks were not there I have never took this watch to anyone else except rsc. I know my watch well I look at it under loupe often. This approach to customer service is a strange way. I don't know how to feel, is like they are doing me a favor after they damaged the watch. Should I say thank you for.
Fixing it?

How about those times when i read countless threads here about sending in your "well used" watch to RSC for service and getting it back in like new condition ? Are those all gone with the wind now?

I think it was a expectation that Rolex is great at what they do, so people don't state the obvious anymore, the first time I wrote it off but this time I need to let my friends know because I don't want anyone to feel how I felt after I picked up my watch.

I know for sure that some RSCs in Europe do it, Germany Cologne and Geneva 100%. Here is before/after relation from laser welding repair by Cologne RSC:

Those are classified as " gouges " or tool marks. And yes, this is a thoughtless bracelet install from the "top" = You owe me a laser job!

This probably wasn’t the proper thread for me to make that comment in, as you have a legitimate gripe with how your watch turned out.

Just happy that you commented and no offense was taken. You are correct we do live in an age where negative news are popular and turn heads.

I was told that they have a laser welding device but do not use it very often. However, they assured me that they used it on my 116520 Daytona when they fixed the lugs (see my previous post) after damaging them when the watch was serviced under warranty.

In this case though, make sure they do not just polish the gold away but do, in fact, use leaser welding to fix it. Sadly, you will never know 100% if they actually did, it will just look acceptable (so I hope).

Seeing as this is gold (softer metal), perhaps ask for photos of the insides of the lugs once the bracelet is removed? Probably want to make sure the spring bars weren't dragged along the surface of the lugs, creating a shallow "trench" so to speak between the hole and the edge. At least I would, given that something like that could, if ever enlarged, compromise the security of the spring bars (in theory).

Guys I'm not going to send it back to RSC, they went dark for 2 days and I can't get ahold of anyone there. This type of service really gives me a uneasy feeling.

Just why it is better to do everything yourself - in life in general - most people just don't give a cr*p.
