Hidden Clasp on 1803?

Hi All,

After selling my 1803 on a strap I've been looking for a champagne or gray dial 1803 or 18038 on the bracelet. I see an early 1803 (1.4XX serial - mid-60's) on a hidden clasp bracelet.

From what I've read it seems that the hidden clasp didn't come about until the 70's? So can I assume this bracelet is not original? Am I missing something?

I think your right on. The bracelet was probably taken from a later 1803 or possibly aftermarket.

I think the rule of thumb is 1960s is a regular clasp, 1970s and onward is hidden clasp but I want to say I recall a really old thread stating that the changeover was around 1972.

I have an 1803 from, I believe 1971, and it has a hidden clasp. Can't check the serial rn as it's currently at LAWW.

The non hidden clasps aka fold over buckles were available upon request until late 80s I believe because I own catalogs from that era and it’s listed as an option.
