“Fifth wheel grease” refers to the the grease used at the truck/trailer pivot point.

Grease is in the bark grain, the OP is wearing the watch to ............. WORK in !

Fifth wheel grease

So I’m guessing you use a high temp grease containing Lithium or its derivatives.

Non-corrosive on its own, but the salts that are included in the other components might react with the load-bearing pins that hold the gold links together. Sodium & Potassium are commonly found in the viscous carriers for the slippery Lithium.

Are you planning a cleansing process? Even strong soaps will need to be followed by some high pressure steam to disperse the grease that seeped into the pivots.

Ah, thanks; and sorry I didn't recognize that a garage is a gold dd's "natural habitat." I don't own one, and my DJ is only good at righting checks to mechanics.

That is so bad ass! A true legend, wearing a gold rolex while getting the job done. Way cooler than people who baby their watch, lol. And for all you haters out there, experienced big rig drivers are making good $$$ right now due to the driver shortage and complicated new regulations around hours of service. Great career for people who don't mind the lifestyle.

All I can boast is some basement door replacement grime on my SD4K yesterday. Took the photo to post on the WRU thread and had to clean the watch and take a second shot.

A watches natural environment is where ever it's worn, imho.

As someone who came from nothing, be cautious, ................... those who you write checks to now, could be the ones that write you checks and hands out pink slips in the future.

OP, have you thought about having a ceramic coating applied to the watch!?!

Seriously, Great to see a watch like yours being used as the tool that it is.

Thanks for the spelling correction, and of course you're otherwise correct. But I'm not sure how my silly comment was misconstrued as a slight. I have no mechanical ability and am completely at the mercy of the folks who do.

Moreover, my nose is way too short to be looking down on anyone. I know this well, but thanks for the reminder.
