If people are that concerned about scratches, then they should leave said watch in the box, in the safe. Or better still in the AD's.

They are watches for flips sake. Made to be worn.

Last sentence in your post is part of the issue...for flips sake.

I put ceramic coating and clear bra on my Daytona--and threw it in the safe so I can make money on it in about 20 years.

ohh had it paint corrected and clay'ed first, silly me.

Are you out of your $”(&$&;@)$&&!@@);&ing mind??????

Honestly. Why don’t you just buy a well made fake so you have the benefit of the name on the dial and go on your way.

Part of the appeal of Rolex is their endless capacity to take abuse in it’s most severe form. Scratches and small dings just happen. No one likes it but it is a fact of life. The good news is that Rolex service centers and other qualified repair shops have the ability to clean your watch up so it looks like new.

In the meantime, it’s amazing what a little dish soap and a eyeglass cloth will do. Otherwise embrace the scratching. You will feel much better for it.

Never said I supported doing this, or that I would ever do so to any of my Rolex’s ... was interesting seeing someone do this to a datejust and I feel the same way as most...

Tudor makes ceramic watches already; they don't look to great and I can't imagine that they sell all that well. I'd tend to believe that a full ceramic watch would hold up much better than a ceramic coated one.

Interestingly, when I read Rolex warranty conditions, the specifically said that applying ceramic or other coatings to the watch would void the warranty.

No. All this nonsense just started within the last couple of months. Some either have too much time on their hands, or are trying to reinvent the mousetrap.

Ceramic coating on rolex

Thoughts on this - no. Don’t do it
Ever seen this before - no. Not on a watch
Safe - no

Just say no to messing with a Rolex in this way. Buy, wear, enjoy!

Yah, but I’m sayin, you don’t get that TruCoat on your Rolex you’ll get oxidation problems.

In all seriousness, I have seen some protective films that fit on a Rolex. Basically like a screen protector for your watch. Was thinking of doing it for my clasp alone, but they do not have it available for my Daytona.

God forbid someone should see you with a scratch on your watch.

Have to agree Bas I remember when this forum was about the history and the watches in general. Now its scratches, watches running one or two seconds over this marketing new spec. And now the latest Rolex syndrome scratch protection syndrome.Today Rolex watches in general get such a very pampered life,I sometimes wonder why most are made from the toughest material know to man SS.They could make them today from glass with there special Rolex resting boxes, and resting cloths, just encase they scratch the delicate SS.And yes I know they are expensive watches but still more easy to fund in today's world than they were 40 odd years ago.Back in the age with no machine winders only your own wrist and the winding crown the good old Rolex watch days.

The only time I'd feel right wearing a watch with a protective coating would be when sitting on this couch.
