Icon5 I’m just curious about when some people say, “welcome To the club...”

Take the Daytona for example. When someone says, “welcome to the club” and this person owns a SS Daytona, does that mean all PM and Platinum are in the club or just SS?

And when someone who owns a PM DAytona, says, “welcome to the club” does that mean all people who own SS are in the club?

I mean is it backwards compatible like if you have a platinum Daytona you are in all the Daytona clubs or what?

And lastly, since I like you have owned many Different Rolex References, if we sell them are we out of the club or still in it?

I asked the last question because no one has ever said,
“ Sorry your leaving the club...”.

Actually some do say, sorry you are leaving the club and on Tom's Platona thread there is even a - sorry you are leaving the idea of buying a Platona club.

I think the club should mean the same metal if not the exact same model, for eg I often say welcome to blue sub club, which covers YG and WG models.

I think you're over-thinking "the clubs" a tad.

Presumably there is a club hierachy, starting from the top:

WIS club
...Rolex club
......Daytona club
.........YG Daytona club
.........Pt Daytona club
etc

So we’re all in the WIS club. Most of us are in the Rolex club. Anybody with a Daytona is in the Daytona club but the precious metals have their own club. It’d be perfectly possible to sub-divide clubs even further per reference.

Really when people say it it’s just folk being nice, greasing the wheels of a cohesive community etc etc.

It’s just an old hat comment signalling you now have to drive a 90’s era German car or own Ping golf clubs.

As a side note, I think "The Club" is thread dependent to the core watch class or watch model of the thread.

Easier to understand than 'mine says hi' as if watches could speak.

This has been one of humanity's great un-resolved mystery and as a community and citizen of the world, we should dedicate more of our time to resolve this issue.

It really means that people are so thankful that the AD has permitted them to give them their money for a watch. I think their should be a new holiday called "AD Day" so we can put our AD's on a shrine. Perhaps a parade would be in order. On the parade signs we could put " Incoming" or "My AD let me spend my money in his store" or "My AD for President" or "My AD Bundled me so I could buy a DaytonaC".

Being "in the club" entitles you to attend my Lake's Year-End Beach BBQ. Food's good, costs you nothing (besides getting yourself to Denville NJ), and there's usually some excitement. For the last couple years a marriage has imploded at this event. And there's beer. I think the last two may be related.

Wow tell us more. Sounds like a hell of a party if it perennially ends marriages...

I like this definition the best. It’s the most inclusive.

without a careful reading of the club's bylaws I can't say what the entrance requirements are.

Personally I think if you love watches, you should be in the club. Not every AA member has a 1 year chip, but they are members nonetheless

It's like when your missus says, say hello to the guys from me, and we never ever do.
