Well I guess you could probably show non Ferrari people a 308 and a 288 GTO and get much the same response - doesn't mean they are the same.

Then again, that's not really the point in a watch forum, is it?

Just like the 5004 and 3970 look very similar. So does the 5370P versus the 5170P..

Of course when you consider the complication and nuances they are very different. However most "regular" people would look at them side by side and not truly appreciate the differences.

this is confusing - the 5370P is a world apart from the 5170.

both from a complication and price perspective - it’s not possible to compare the price on a relative basis given the difference in the complexity of the watch. in fact the 5370P represents better value at the retail price than the 5170 IMHO.

This sort of discontinuation may come as a surprise, but we need to remember that we are the same group which sometimes laments the production of the 5170p in numbers too high.

If the logic is to limit production and make the piece that more special, that is a way to do it.

Bring on the 5370p with a blue fume enamel dial (like the 5170p but in enamel). Would be a masterpiece.

I personally think the 5170 looks like a Canal Street rip off compared to the 5370p but that's me...I did buy my wife the ladies version of the 5170 and it's very nice.

Anyone who has held a 5370 and a 5170 at the same time would quickly realize they are very different pieces that have some resemblances.

Boom! Can we make it 1-2mm smaller too while we're at it?

Sorry to bring up a dead thread...

Now that I am receiving one I am doing some digging about the availability/production numbers. Many articles stated the US were to receive no more than 4 in a calendar year but that seems very low. Is it really possible that PP would only produce 12-15 of these every year?

Thank you but i wasn’t precisely correct as it isn’t fume. Haven’t seen the blue in the flesh but it certainly doesn’t look as nice as the 5170p one to me even though it is enamel.

I wonder if the Blue enamel dial is easier to make versus the Black enamel dial. I know the Black enamel is one of the most difficult due to the uniform coloration and any impurities will show up easily on a black enamel. What about the Blue??

No idea, but I do know White enamel is much easier to produce with a much lower rejection rate than Black and that black paint on a car is by far the least forgiving for blemishes, I assume this is equally true with enamel - the lighter the colour the less an imperfection will show or it can be polished out.

So what is the latest in 5370p black dial?
How are secondary values now?
Has anyone seen a blue one in the flesh?

About 200k USD. The blue is not as nice as the black.

Lacks the depth.
