Rose gold DD or YG Daytona, both green?

Dear All,
As i have been contemplating a full PM piece and will celebrate my 50th birthday this autumn i went in to the AD today to discuss.

A RG DD with green dial will take aprox 6 months and a YG daytona green dial around 12 months. Like them both and each have their pros and cons. Love the president bracelet of the DD, the olive dial is amazing but if it would have been YG it would hav been a done deal as i am a bit hesitant to a full RG piece.

The Daytona is another oyster bracelet but ads complications and the green dial is absolute fantastic with the YG. The overall size of the Daytona feels a bit small and so on.....Why can't Rolex make a 40 mm dd in YG with a green dial like the 36 mm version

I know this is a nice problem to have but i would have to part with couple of pieces in order to make the purchase. Current collection are Ceramic Pepsi, Ceramic root beer, 41mm Blusey and 43 mm SD.

Value aside, how would you do this in order to create balance in the collection meaning what would you sell in order to fund the purchase and where would you put the money DD or daytona?

cheers!

imo that dd beats the daytona in every way possible, one of the nicest current rolexes out. the daytona is really nice and it's so hard to say no to at msrp, but think i'd go with the dd here

DD40 for me. The YG/green Daytona gets a lot of love around these parts, but putting hype aside, its not for me.

Got to be the Daytona for me

Not quite got into DDs yet. Not sure why. I think it’s classic pinnacle Rolex. That clearly is a good place to be. But I like something different and that is the Daytona, plus I collect chronographs.

Ps the green dial hype has nothing to do with the decision. I’d still pick the wg or RG or even the OF models over the DD.

Do love the Pt DD or WG meteorite. They are something different for me.

I prefer the Daytona out of the two. I don't think I can pull off RG. The Green dial on the Daytona is stunning.

I have this DD and it is my favorite watch. I am hoping to pick up the Daytona as well at some point. If I had to pick just one it would be the DD.
If you can afford it, I wouldn't sell any of your current watches

I’m turning 40 this year and recently bought a RG DD40, which I love wearing to work daily and going out. When I’m 50 or 60, I think I would love a gold Daytona on the oysteflex, luxurious/casual/youthful.

RG Day-Date Olive dial and YG Daytona Green dial are two of the most sought after.

I already got YG Daytona green dial and waiting for RG D-D olive dial.

It's better to have both.

I love the DD .. you should look into even a DD40 in YG with a champagne or white dial and roman numerals those pieces are killer in my opinion levels above any variant of the daytona - compare that hand in hand with the RG DD

My opinion is a little bias as I am not a fan of pm daytonas only enjoy the pre ceramic full steel models. I would also keep the bluesy and the pepsi sell the rootbeer and the sd34

The JMD is the most beautiful Rolex ever made. Go for it (the 12-month wait will pass in a flash)!

The RG DD40 with olive dial is one of my grail watches, so I am pretty biased I suppose. I am not a big Daytona fan, but I do love the YG Green dial....but...looking at your current collection, you're in dire need of a dress watch, and the DD just fills that spot perfectly, so my vote is for the DD!

RG chocolate dial is super nice. Not a fan of daytona, but if you are thinking of a chrono, would go with another brand - maybe a gold speedmaster

I have had 2 Daytona’s and love the look, unfortunate for me, it felt really small on my wrist. I sold them both. I have a dd40 now with the white Roman dial and really like it a lot.

Prefer RG to YG, I owned the RG DD olive dial and it was just on another level. One of the very few watches I regret selling, the way the dial plays off the RG is truly remarkable in person. While subjective, I find the presidential bracelet more aesthetically pleasing and differentiated than the monotonous oyster bracelet. My .02

Thats a tough question but honestly I have to go with the rose gold DD, especially after I saw the green dial one. Im a sucker for the special green dials. Just watched a review with the DD and I GUARANTEE all of you will be with me after seeing it.

Let me know what you think because its between 116506 Daytona or the DD for me, tough choice...

I had the choice before this massive run up and picked the DD. I just could not get down with the Christmas tree looks of the Daytona

Such a tough choice! I’d go with the rose gold dd. Slightly more subtle but still a statement piece and that bracelet is just insane

I love the RG/Olive DD. I think it would be far easier to get than the 12 months you've been quoted for the Daytona, which I doubt they would even deliver.

I was thinking about this a few hours ago. I know in at least one post, I mentioned that I couldn't understand the olive dial DD whatsoever. Brown and green may be the most common form of color blindness. Both sides may be talking past one another as they're seeing two different things. I've never seen one in person, but the olive DD looks hideous to me while the Daytona looks great. All of this can be summarized into 'buy what you like'.

I would go for the Rose gold DD. Such a classic piece.

Out of curiosity, which is more difficult to get from an AD? Are secondary market premiums similar?
