Which Watch Brand?

Hello Friends,

Just thought I'd poll everyone's opinion on which watch brand you feel retains it's value the most when purchased new. I know it depends on which model and if it's SS vs TT, but let's look at the overall picture. Obviously this is a Rolex forum and some might be biased, but I know that we all own other brands and some have a vast collection. Interested to hear your thoughts.

Thanks in advance.

Based on what I've seen so far it's Rolex. The popularity of the brand, and the price hikes by Rolex have combined very well so that it most cases and most of their watchess tend to retain their value the best overall.

Today IMHO there are only 3 brands that hold there prices in proportion of retail price paid and thats Patek,Rolex and Panerai most of the rest you will take quite a loss if you paid full retail. But IMHO when I buy any watch its because I want to buy it and its not all about will it hold its ££££££$$$$$$$$$

I agree Peter. However, I once purchased a TT Daytona thinking that I was going to keep it for a long time. After 6 months I had a change of heart and because I purchased new (my mistake) I really lost out when selling. So I think when making such an investment into a high end piece, re-sale has to be a consideration, at least in my mind.

Well myself cannot see today why the TT watches especially in the Daytona have in general quite a poor resale compared with the other S.Steel models. The S.Steel Daytona two dials only while the TT has a bigger selection and IMHO its a far nicer looking watch. But in general over the past 30 odd years its the S.Steel sports in general have the best resale if you ever wanted to sell. Its a strange old world, and now with the Internet, and Rolex hysteria and over hype its getting stranger everyday.

Rolex, Patek and Panerai!

But it depends on what model you get. I picked up my first Rolex almost 4 years ago (an AK) and if I sell it I will lose a lot.

Voted Rolex>>>

in "03, I purchsed my 16610. I've seen used ones sell for more than what I paid.

I have to admit: I am more of an Omega guy. I'd have to say Rolex and Panerai.

Patek. With the crazy price increases, it's not long before you recover your costs.

As much as I like Rolex I'd have to go for Patek Philippe, I've always preferred dress watches and to me it's a grail brand.
