Does the stretch of the bracelet bother you?

If you're buying an older watch and see that the bracelet is original but stretched, does that make you second guess whether you should buy a watch or not? Do you swap out the bracelet for a strap?

Have an old Datejust left to me by my father with stretch, drives me crazy. Can't imagine buying a watch with stretch.

Haha nice to have that from your father though! But ok that answers that question! I will hold out for less stretch!

If the case and dial are in great condition, a badly stretched bracelet would not deter me if the price is right. You can always send the bracelet to MY to get it repaired.

Depends on whether you can live with it. Here is the stretch on mine. This is, of course, a close up and I pulled it back a bit to emphasize it, it doesn't look this bad on the wrist, but I got an excellent bargain, so I'm living with it at present. A non stretched original Rolex bracelet would probably cost more than I paid for the watch, and I really don't want a 3d party bracelet.

Would never buy a watch with stretch unless your ok with spending some money to send it to M. Young in HK to get it fixed also being without the watch for around 8 weeks.

Any idea of how much Young costs in USD? Also do they require the watch or just the band? I can always wear with a nice leather band waiting for the bracelet to be returned.

If I remember correctly, it was 200 USD for a two tone jubilee. Im sure hes raised his prices since then, but it should be around that ballpark. Also have to factor in international shipping. And you only need to send in the bracelet.

Go to Classic Watch Repair website (M.Y.) and select Band Restoration > "get a quote."

I actually like a bit of stretch. Makes the bracelet feel silkier. I like the rattly old end links too.
