Rolex submariner 3 6 9 dial (original/fake)

Hello all,

Is this an original vintage Rolex submariner 369 dial ? Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Regards

Extra helpful posting it upside down. Considering the fake insert I will go out on a limb and say fake even without looking at the dial from a reasonable angle. Looks off.

Feet first depth rating on an Explorer dial ? Really ? White print text, too ?

Won't see a penny of my money.

Who is selling this piece of toot - and are they saying it is genuine ?

Is that text white ?

Is that a feet-first depth rating ?

My view remains the same....

Submariners 5512 and 5513 had crown guards and a very small number of these models had genuine Explorer-style dials fitted.

You'll need to look elsewhere to see one, though...

Indeed. Not the first time though. What happened with the NY lawsuit?

Can't see any reports from that case after Sep 16, has it all 'disappeared'?

If you gentlemen are referring to this :

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...e-Rolexes.html

then I should point out that that the "Explorer dial" Submariner in his collection has no link to that particular case, as far as I know.

Interesting stuff.

Is that a "fake" leather strap in the first photo?

Looks like they had to cut down the edges to make it fit the lugs !!

In fairness, I've seen many a very high value old Rolex fitted on a fake bracelet or pitiful strap.

It has no bearing on the authenticity or indeed, as here, awfulness of the watch it supports.

In threads asking about faked up watches here and elsewhere, after saying what it is I like to ask the OP to inform us who is offering the watch or where it is located. This is a reasonable question and one imagines that a poster of bona fides would be delighted to share the details of someone who has shown or offered him a bad watch, whose lack of authenticity they did not recognise themselves. Very commonly the OPs don't respond or even post again, from which in many cases a reasonable person might draw conclusion.

I hope the OP in this case is one who will tell us which cubicle not to go in.

Still no comment from the OP although he has been back on the forum.

How odd.

There is a typical pattern to these enquiries for some reason, whether it is this forum, one of the many others or one of the Facebook groups :

* Recently joined or low volume poster
* Apparently innocent question asking about potentially rare model of whose authenticity they claim to be unsure
* Others helpfully respond, identifying it as fake
* Others ask where the watch is / who was selling it etc.
* OP for some reason decides to protect the person offering the watch (and trying to con them, then, if their story was real?) or is never heard from again.

In similar circumstances I often think the OP is a bad 'un, simply testing to see if a watch he knows to be wrong would get past anyone.

Heywood, ebay has been selling fake Tudor sub cases from Vietnam for $450 apiece. They never take them down despite my flagging. I harbour more animosity towards them than some loser with a $250 fake trying to figure out if he can sell it and buy a 1991 Nissan skyline with 190,000 miles on it

Hi Haywood,

Apologies for not getting back to you to explain further about the seller. I was new in the Rolex watch world and was not sure what information to share. I was looking at a submariner for myself at that time on eBay and this watch caught my eye because it was priced very low compared to other examples. I never knew what is 3-6-9 dial and if submariner comes on 3-6-9 dial.

Before I decided to open any conversation with the eBay seller, I posted a picture of the watch on this forum believing I will get an expert opinion. There was a lot of response to the post. Information was overwhelming for me. I had no idea what members were talking about, but I understood from the first response to my post, that the watch is not authentic Rolex.

I should have answered your questions ages ago, but I was not confident enough to do so. I hope you understand. In the meantime, I have acquired some basic knowledge about Rolex watches and blessed to have a few in my collection.

Thanks for your help and to answer my question, many years ago. :)

Regards,
Moeed

It is all because of the lock-down in the U.K. I have ample time these days to dig my old posts on Rolex forum.
