These guys usually go right at the top end. They've got a silver snoopy on for offers over GBP 11k, and recently sold the new Rolex sea dweller to some poor sod for 15k!

1 currently on eBay with bids - £7,600.00
Interesting to see if that goes higher. At least if your one of the 2012 its solid retained value. |

They came back to me today with no price but invited me to make a bid, comparing with the snoopy so assume approx 9-10k will be what they are looking at.
It's lovely, but there does come a point where you have to draw a line. Makes the ck2998 look great value in comparison on the secondary market. (yes I know there were 1000 more). |

The deliveries have just started and are likely to last months. Over on Omegaforums the word is that watches that go unclaimed after 30 days get sent back to Omega and then re-allocated. Already someone over there posted that they turned it down, and I wouldn't be shocked if a lot of that happens given that signing up didn't require any deposit.
I want one, but I'm going to wait a while and see what happens to the prices. I won't be shocked if they stay above list, but I won't be shocked if they hover around list or drop below it, either. Gotta wait for the frenzy to die down. It's still a big markup for a Speedy Pro on leather. |

What was the rrp? £4.5k? I think they are lovely just think the secondary market is silly sometimes.

It will be interesting to see how much these go for on eBay and what happens to the prices as more and more are received. I have one reserved but with the US price of $6500 (plus CA sales tax) I am not yet sure what I am going to do.

So far, I've seen one on eBay sell for £7100. That seller listed it before he even had the watch in-hand, and made a few mistakes in the listing. Others with better listings and watches in-hand will sell above that. There are now 3 more listed on eBay for £7400-£10000, including the one with 8 bids at £7600.
I am still planning on keeping mine when my number gets called, but if the prices hold in this range, I might seriously be tempted to sell mine and apply the funds towards my grail watch. |

Yes, but there comes a point where these watches are priced against mechanically superior items. Snoopy is a point. Gbp 11k. I'll take a Daytona at list thanks (assuming I struck gold and found one)
Not to belittle these watches, but they are MRP priced where they are for a reason, and 8k sterling for essentially a moonwatch with a leather strap and a reverse panda dial is quite strong. (All IMO of course) |

I should of course point out that i do like this watch and my points are not to criticise anyone who has bought, just to highlight the odd nature of the secondary market on some occasions...

What I have come to accept is that we cost-conscious watch enthusiasts are just a very small population of watch buyers, and there clearly are a lot of people willing to pay over MSRP for a "hot" watch. The Snoopy, SpeedyTuesday, Daytona, SD43, and PP 5711 are just some examples. It really shouldn't even be noteworthy anymore when it happens, though I do still find it interesting how much more people are willing to pay for some of these watches.
As much as I hate to see a watch that I want selling for more than MSRP, I also recognize that I can benefit from the same system if I ever buy a less "hot" watch from a grey market seller for a lot less than MSRP. It's just the reality of today's watch market. |

I agree, as someone with a Speedy Tuesday on the way I am seriously torn. I take it popular opinion would be the new Daytona? I would love a 1675 GMT or a 1016 Explorer, but I think I may have missed the boat with vintage. |

I think the ST looks fantastic, but I would only pay list at most. I was fortunate enough to buy my snoopy and I feel that was my one lucky grab for some time.

I already have my "special" Speedmaster and this is a better all around watch as one would expect given the difference in price between the normal Speedy and the Daytona. A cooler dial can only take a watch so far. |
