Platinum Model crowns
Are the crowns on pt models also made of pt or are they WG?

Hopefully not too weird....in a prior thread someone stated that platinum is very hard to work with....hence the reason platinum day date models have a smooth bezel instead of a fluted bezel is because it would be too difficult to work a pt bezel into the ridges necessary to make a fluted bezel...they went in to state that Rolex used WG crowns on solid pt watches for the same reason....it would be too challenging to make the ridges on a winding crown if it were made of pt.
So, is your answer based on actual knowledge you have or did you just decide to answer what you thought was a weird question? I usually don't answer questions here unless I know what I am talking about. |

Mine is platinum but I can't speak for others. I believe all external parts (except the bezel) are solid platinum.
