Please remind me: Does Rolex service bracelets that are stretched out?

Hi everyone,

Over time, any watch bracelet may develop some looseness between the links, particularly precious metal versions.

While new Rolex bracelets, such as in the DD40 are made to resist this, it will still occur over time.

Does Rolex service and fix this issue?

I'm guessing it does not, or Michael Young would be out of a job...

Please confirm, no need to apologise for Rolex or comment on the validity of the question, just checking in on something I'm interested in. Your thoughtful responses are much appreciated as always.

They do if you consider selling you a new one at MSRP "service".

I've seen Rolex require a bracelet be replaced if it is stretched beyond what they consider to be normal wear, never an option to rebuild or repair.

Thanks, guys.

I like the idea of keeping my watches for life, so choosing a watch that can be repaired is important to me.

Some other brands (talking to the heads of after sales service) tell me that they can and will repair everything, including bracelets. FP Journe is one of these and I actually had a Breguet bracelet repaired by Breguet , just for my peace of mind (and OCD).

Of course, you could say that because a Rolex is made well, it's good enough for most people, sure. I'm just thinking about my case in particular where that wouldn't give me peace of mind.

And yes, I could just buy a new bracelet in X years, but since I'm looking at a pt model....

Which PT model? I believe the PT Day Date has some kind of ceramic part connecting the links of the bracelet so stretch is a non issue. Not sure about other PT models.

Omega is actually pretty good too. I had the end links only showing stretch and they replaced those and the entire clasp at no additional charge. They also replaced every pin and collar for some reason.

New platinum models have ceramic inserts so stretching should not be a problem. My platona has not stretched in the slightest.

All the new DD40 bracelet will NOT stretch. Its got ceramic inserts that means the links in between cannot get worn.

Do all the newer PM bracelets have the ceramic sleeves on the bracelet pins?

Yes, there are ceramic inserts.

No, there will still be stretch, according to Rolex at the NYC RSC.

Rolex reps I've spoken to have all been very careful to say that the issue will still happen. The new bracelet design slows, but does not eliminate, stretch.

Hi! Always appreciate your posts. Maybe time for some new pics of your platona? See above about stretching.

That's very nice to hear! Thanks!

If people know of other brands that do fully repair their bracelets, please let me know.
