CK2998 - in

Hi all,

Thought I'd share the new purchase. Ck2998 to go with the speedy pro and couple of Rolex that I have. Really like it. For now, strap only as don't have a bracelet but that's no prob as both of the Rolex and my speedy pro live on theirs so it's a nice change and a dress up for the suit.

I know this watch doesn't get much love, but as a value proposition I think it's just about fine compared to the speedy with the sapphire and the ceramic. I did pay slightly over list, but that's the way of the world in the U.K. As we stand and I'm actually pretty pleased I got it for where I did. Wears slightly smaller than the pro, and achieves the vintage/dressy look pretty well imo.

I will get a couple of new straps. I love the blue, but to avoid a blue overload may get a brown and a nylon/cordura. I will also invest eventually in a bracelet although they are tough to find.

It's amazing. I started off with Rolex and thought I'd want nothing else. A speedy pro and now this has me thinking. Some don't, but I love the winding aspect. Makes you bond with the watch and gives a lot of character. I can see others arriving.

Enough rambling anyway. I will upload a couple of pics but currently can't as since the site upgrade it now won't take my iPhone pics. I wear plenty of pink and blue shirts, so no shortage of suitable outfits!

Cheers,
Steve

Congrats Steve, it's a very underrated piece IMO. Beautiful watch and I envy those picking them up at a discount now (I got it @ MSRP from boutique) but still....IMO the MSRP was worth it and it came out to be a very nice piece. I've been enjoying mine very much and about to change up the leather strap to a custom made one I made. Enjoy yours in good health.

Excellent choice! It has quickly become one of my favorites. To help you decide on straps, here's a picture of mine on a brown leather racing strap.

No discounts in the U.K. Which is fairly obvious when you consider where the pound is. That said, a watch is worth what someone will pay and I'm glad I paid what I did.

May I ask, what colour custom did you go for? Seen a few photos and brown looks good but I do love the blue too. It's an exquisite watch with great finishing that deserves to be dressed up a bit I think.

I picked mine up from Bulang & Sons. Very comfortable, and excellent quality. I wish it was a little longer, but then again, I have pretty big wrists, so that wouldn't be a concern for most people.

Anyone know where to source the bracelet and end links in the uk? May end up with a couple of Cheaper straps instead as it looks pricey...

Sorry - I more meant that it's a love it or hate it type thing (not everyone likes blue). Fortunately I do....

Was just a cheap one from eBay but was the only 19mm blue one I could find.

Blimey. Had a quote of Ł540 for a speedmaster racing bracelet from the omega boutique near me. Think I'll stick to the straps (I'm loving the blue more each day anyway)....

Congrats!

As much as I like the pics of the watch on the bracelet, I still thinks it looks best on leather.

Congrats on your new CK! I went back and forth between the bracelet and a number of different straps, but think it will now stay on the 1125 bracelet for a long time.

Funny that you said the CK doesn't get much love - I've always thought comment are generally positive about the watch, though of course, it's not as popular as the original Speedmaster.

It's a beautiful watch, especially on the 1125 bracelet.

You're too modest. Awesome watch period. Don't like it on bracelet at all.

It is awesome. Had it on nato yesterday too which looked really good (and I'm not generally a fan of NATO straps). The bracelet gives it another twist but then I'm a bracelet guy really. I wear my speedy pro on bracelet and think this will look as good.

What I like about this watch is that it looks good on a variety of different things and changes the feel of the piece. The leather gives it a vintage and dressy look, the NATO makes it look fun and modern and I think the bracelet will be perfect for daily wear. There aren't that many watches that can rock all three looks (at least in my eyes) and that's why I think this is a keeper for me.

I bought the CK a few months ago and love it. I think it has one of the most beautiful dials ever.

I bought it thinking I would put on a metal bracelet but the blue strap has grown on me.

I've just bought the bracelet and all I can say is that it totally changes the watch. Much more casual to my eyes and I love it.
