Unfortunately the chocolate face I saw for the everose gold DD40 had the new pencil thin Roman numerals which are a downgrade from the DD2 RM's

Here are a few pictures!

Thanks to the original sources for these (which is me in two of them!).

first is a comparison with the discontinued DD2
I've mentioned that in real life, the 3D nature of the DD40's Romans stands out plus the laser etched dials versus the older DD2.

second is a comparison with the DJ2

Third is a wrist shot of the DD40 platinum batons

Fourth is a wrist shot from a TRF member of the DD40 platinum Romans on the wrist

Fifth is a close up of the DD40 dial so you get a sense of the what you don't see in usual pictures, but you will when it's on your wrist!

The platinum DD40 Romans. It's either that or the Breguet Marine 5817 with silicon balance wheel and spring (only some new 5817's have that). The DD40 is definitely in the lead, though!

I just realized the new Roman dials have a roman numeral only for every other hour (2,4,6,8,10) while the other hours are stick marker. No wonder it looked off the me. Im also not crazy about the romans looking like think toothpicks

Looks like Rolex nailed it with the proportions of the case, bezel and dial on the 40mm.

Nice! Tough decision. I would vote for the platinum DD 40 but I am biased. You will love the weight, feel and presence. Good luck. I look forward to your incoming thread!

Thanks! Much appreciated. My 40th b'day is in 2016, so the DD40 makes sense! I'm saving pennies as we speak!

I can't think of a better reason to celebrate with a grand purchase. Plus by waiting for next year, you will get to see the new dials for 2016 before you decide!

Nice pics, and that comparison shows why I prefer the DDII, the DD40 seems quite slight in comparison, and just not what I want in a "President". Just has too much bracelet and not enough watch.

The deconstructed RNs do look better in your pics but they still look gimmicky and trendy, I prefer a classical look on a President, but they would look good on the DJII tho.

Glad the pics were helpful! I see your POV for sure. Watches like the AP ROO and other others share the DD2's big, bold look-although I like the Rolex better as it's a classier look in my eyes.

The DD40 is maybe for a slightly different audience.

Couple of shots I took in the AD - I would be very interested in the Everose Gold if a simple chocolate dial were produced...

I love the stick dials. I never really liked the old RN's, they always looked like they were made of molded chocolate, but these new ones look great!

This is not my photo; I found it online with a google search.

This is the first clear photo I have seen of the new DD40 chocolate dial with RNs and I have to say... I love it. Initially I did not think I liked the new style of RNs but this model has changed my mind.

Now the bigger problem... I think I want one
