Audemars Piguet 44mm Hornback Straps?

Hi Everyone. Just wanted to see how many 44mm AP owners have hornback straps fitted to their watches? I've got the 44 SS on a rubber atm.. but I'm definitely looking to switch it up to some sort of leather.

I've checked with the boutique here in Singapore.. they told me they've stopped production for hornbacks for 44s. And if they had any left in stock it would be over $1,000 Singapore dollars! That is just madness.

Anyone has comments over the worth of the hornbacks for 44? Or any 3rd party leather makers who make great aftermarket hornbacks? I'm open to other leather... but I'm not sure which would look best.

Or better yet... anyone with a nice 44mm Hornback they'd like to sell?

Here's a pic for the day.

No idea about horn back straps but for 44mm ROOs, so far I find the rubber strap to be the most comfy. I guess that is why it is fitted as such by AP. I think you can also get a non-horn back strap for much less. Also, I recommend the GP strap. It fits very well with the S44.

BTW Nice pic!

Thanks Ben! The boutique staff had recommended me the GP strap as well. I've not actually seen the GP strap in person, but I've seen the matte croco strap. That particular one however, only seems to go well with the RG44 so I'm at a loss. How does the GP strap wear though? I do use my 44 every other day, and I'm not sure how calf leather holds up to that amount of use.

Damn for real? the 44mm hornbacks are not produced anymore? I remembered the last time I bought them for just a little over $800. Why would they even stopped producing them? Anyone knows?

I'm guessing it just wasn't too popular given the size of the already gigantic 44mm casing, not to mention the flare the hornback would give to the case. Just my 2 cents. But I'd definitely get my hands on them if I could. Speaking of which, how do they fit for you?

I had the leather croc pattern strap (I believe off the plat 44) as well as the GP strap and still found the rubber looked best on the SS.

FC however, the GP strap looked killer on.

Can someone please post a pic of a 44mm with hornback? I never saw one, or even knew they had them.

I have seen the hornback. Black with white stitching?

This does not look good on the watch. I hate to be honest here, but I wouldn't spend 1,000+ to make my watch look worse.

Stick with the original black rubber that the watch came with.

I ended up with a few straps to just mix it up once in awhile. Blue hornback with white stitch, GP strap with red sides and white rubber. Let me know if you guys want some pics!

From your picture, I'm guessing you have the 2017 RG. This is how it looks. Absolutely sick.

Not the best pics mike, but I know you got the pt so this it what a blue hornback looks like against a white metal. Let me know if you want more pics I'll snap em and post it!

I like it, and wonder how the yellow stitch would look also. Does anybody else have more pics of different straps on the RG , preferably the 2017 model? Options are fairly limited, I can only envision yellow stitch, red stitch, and GP (no red) for the 2017

ordered the GP (not the one with the red on the side, the black/grey one). No pics yet as the watch is in for service but I'm sure it will look great.

the red looks really great on that. I was a little hesitant on the GP with the red but that is awesome. Never seen a hornback on a RG 44 before

Those straps are AWESOME!!!!!!!

That RG is the best combo Ive seen thus far, very sharp! And I can't help but think that blue wouldve looked great on my 44.

Thank you VERY much, Bryan, for sharing!

Not a very big hornback fan, but it does look sweet on 44 RG's, don't like them much on SS, go figure...
