1976 and they are for sure cost more than this one did :-) I was working in the watch department for a store my dad managed and an older gentleman came in that couldn't read the dial anymore (It was silver stick dial) He wanted a Seiko we had that was really legible and at that time was selling for about $90. Our maximum trade allowance was 20 percent. I honestly tried to convince him not to do it, but he really didn't care ... he just wanted a watch he could read. So that was that, the jewellery store allowed me to buy the watch so for under $20 I bought my first Rolex.
