Project X "Single Red" Thoughts

So Project X has put out a 50th anniversary SD of their own where they have "remade" the single red in the 116600 case. I was wondering what people thought of it here. Is it just a Frakenwatch abomination or is it something with merit?

I am of the same opinion, each to their own but I am unable see the point of this project, if you owned one you would know it was a fraud. Like buying a replica AC Cobra kit car and pretending it's AC Cobra. If it was made by Rolex, perhaps. Jaguar cars built a number of E Types, they had documented chassis numbers and engine numbers for early e types which, for some reason or another ( I think it was a factory fire) were never built, and they recreated these cars strictly to the specification of the build standards of the time, and were given period registration numbers. I think they sold for millions, were they jaguar e types, in my opinion yes, if they had been built by anybody but jaguar, I think not.

It is what it is - a modern watch with faux 'vintage' patina. False. Emulated.

That kind of money would get you a pretty nice red 1680 with real patina.

They should have stopped after the red text and drilled lug holes.

That's what it looks like. I dug deeper. They're based off of modern Rolex models. Pretty interesting and I'm sure there's a market for them but I'm not it lol.

What is the point? Defaced and devalued. Poor chap who takes this to RSC in 10 years and is told he has to replace everything to get it back to the original specs.

A little trivia about the Cobra...

Shelby Cobra is what the car was called by Shelby. Never AC Cobra. By the way, he hated the replica cars. He spoke at one of our club events one year where he was an honorary member of the SCAT club here in Dallas. At that time, he commented that he was in the process of suing the replica Cobra manufacturers which he eventually did.

My brother had him autograph an AC Cobra Poster at one of those yearly events here and Carroll crossed out the AC and wrote Shelby above it. He was sure proud of his name and those Cobras.

Thanks, I am not a car enthusiast, I only know about the Jags 'cos I live in Coventry where they were built in a brand new factory on the site of the original Jaguar works (now long gone) for authenticity.

lol.. too much. seriously guys, we just need a 40mm seadweller in a red font, thats all. No need for any faux patina, no need for a larger case, no need for a mag. Just do a 40mm SD with a red SD font and it'll be classic in itself in 50 yrs time.
