AP UK golf tournament + additional bonus day.

I'm just on my way to the airport after 2 days of hospitality....AP style, it's been incredible.

AP have started a partnership with Goodwood and we've enjoyed an amazing day of golf with Darren Clarke with a BBQ lunch to start, demo from Darren and then 18 holes on a beautiful course.

AP Spain had flown over a team of equally enthusiastic watch collectors to try to beat the U.K. Team however I'm able to report that they were unsuccessful on the day.

The day was enhanced further with clear blue sky, a beer buggy and.......a tequila buggy driving continuously between the holes. There was even a Gin & Tonic tent on hole 12. The day quickly became less about golf and more about having a great craic.

Playing golf after drinking gin, beer & tequila was a really interesting experience and full marks to AP for thinking of the tequila.

Last night following the golf we had dinner at Goodwood House, the home of Lord March, where we ate great food and drank even more alcohol.

Then it was back to Goodwood Hotel for some more alcohol a bit of sleep and then...

Day 2, racing BMW M cars + an i8 around the Goodwood motor racing circuit and then an afternoon of shooting clays. For some reason there was no alcohol today. AP lent me the new ceramic 44 for the morning which I think will be my next one.

What a blast, a great time and made some new friends.

Does AP send invites for these events or you pay for it? I'm always curious about that for the people who go to these.

There was even a choice of 2 Morgans to take out around the local country roads.

Sounds like an epic couple of days! Any more pics?

If you want to offload that AP hat let me know. ;)

There was an official AP photographer recording the day and AP usually send a memory stick to all the attendees. I'll be able to post more later.

So then it sounds like they invite you? What is their criteria for sending invites to people? Is it just whomever actually buys watches at full price in the boutiques?

The criteria varies, this time there were some people who didn't own AP but had been invited through their banks, this surprised me as I had previously thought it was for people who already owned the brand.

It seemed that by far the most common reason for getting an invite (almost guaranteeing it) was to buy directly from the boutique. I've never bought a watch through the boutique - they know me through AD events. There's a diverse mix of people from really loud characters to people who hardly get noticed except for the concept on their wrist.

Yes they invite you, you can't just rock up and crash the party.

Sounds like great event! I popped by AP today for them to punch another hole in the rubber strap of my new RG Chrono, and was kindly presented with one of their branded Kubik watch winders. So far I have to say I'm really quite impressed with AP's customer retention policy.

case in point on why I'm going this route for my next AP 100%. AD's (UK especially) have no such customer retention "policies" that i know of, unless you count a glass of Champagne and a bad discount. Paying retail at APSC is probably worth it IMO. This of course in addition to the events you get invited to like OP's which looks awesome.

I've got 2 of those winders, I was told that they're worth about £1000.

Is yours the black leather with green stitching?

Mine has stone tiles on all four sides, I assume to mimic AP's association with the Vallee de Joux.

In my experience of dealing with the Leeds AD I have to disagree with the above however if you're buying from a London dealer then I imagine that it's much harder to qualify as a good customer.

That being said, dealing with the London AP office direct (Daniel) is a solid way to get noticed.

I hear nothing but rave reviews about them so I am going to give it a try. I need some new straps right now anyway, so for sure ill get in touch with them soon rather than waiting until i am buying my next watch .

It all makes very good marketing sense and investment.

The more one feels involved with the brand the more one is likely to stay long term loyal. Yes, you still have to want their product, particularly at AP's price point, but it makes it a lot more pleasant and easier if you feel like you're valued as a customer.

I was in the Leeds store a couple months ago, first time in and Matthew the store manager treat my like I'd been his most valued customer since establishment! Let me try on all kinds of pieces and even a concept that wasn't for sale as well as a RM which was pretty cool! Highly recommend the Leeds AD!!
