Day Date 36 or 40 mm??

I'm sure you veterans are probably sick of this question, but I'm new, and I'd love to see which you guys prefer.

go try on both. Personally 36mm is way too small.

Try both to see which fits you best, but do pick the 36 mm

I will wear any size in the catalog. I have zero preference in size but favour certain combinations more than others.

36 proportions are perfect. The 40 in person to me looks like the bezel is too big.

Im in the same predicament. I have tried both, but feel that the 36 has better proportions although the 40 has a real bang in wrist presence.

The most important is your wrist size. If it is over 8 inch than DD40. if it is less, trhan DD36.

36 > 40

The 40 has a number of improvements in the movement and the bracelet.
The 36 has way more dial choices.
The 36 has perfect proportions. The 40 is way better aesthetically than the DD II, but still can't touch the 36.

I vote for the 36.

My wrist is over 8, and the 36 is better on me. It's about how it feels on the wrist. I also prefer the proportions of the 36.

Try both on if you have a massive wrist 40 if you are normal which ever floats your boat, mine is 7.25 and I love my 36!

Depends on the version, I really really like the ice blue wafer DD40 dial. But like others said earlier, the proportions of the 36mm are just perfect.

The 40 suits my taste better. I've owned the 36 in both rose and white gold but ended up selling them. If I were to go with another DD it would be the 40 with green anniversary dial.

36 for sure.

I really dislike these large versions of the DD and DJ. I see wrists shots on people and it really looks terrible to my eye. Huge faces, bigger than the sport watches like the Sub. They just lack the classic style of the 36mm models.

36mm. DD is meant to be discreet and elegant.

Unless, you are the size of Shaq I see no reason why one should go for the larger DD.

5 minutes in photoshop suggest that the proportions of both are almost identical (not truly represented here as my sizing and rotation is a little off and makes the 40mm lugs look longer than it should. What you see below is the 36 mm blown up to say 39mm equivalent) Perhaps the perceived difference is an illusion casued by the different end links?

For me, asthetically, the end links give the win to the 40mm.
