I mostly agree with this, but I'd also add that a 72 hour power reserve and Ceramic sleeves in the bracelet give the DD40 another edge.

As for sizing, I have about a 7" wrist and find the 36mm to feel tiny. DD40 all the way for me! In the end I think the talk of proportions is a non factor. The whole allure of the DD40 is that it was designed to have better proportions than the DD2.

The bottom line is size preference, movement and bracelet.

"36 meant to be discrete and elegant"
"If wrist less than 8", 36mm only"

Where on Earth is this crap written law?
Wear what makes you happy.
I have a 6.5 wrist and wear a 36, a 40, a 43 and a 44.
Frankly, I now prefer a larger watch and can't phantom choosing a 36 DD over a 40, other than perhaps the weight factor. Don't note anyone considering that on a PM, that should make a difference on comfort.

Enough of these nonsense made up rules.
Wear a clown suit as well if that makes you happy and if anyone is concerned by it, ask them to pay your bills.

40. I honestly think the 40 looks great on wrist, for most wrist sizes.

hmm,

its like someone whose waist is 36 cm, asking everyone should he buy 36cm pants or 40cm pants...

wear whatever suits you.. y confuse urself, do u always buy clothing this way?
do u ask around whether these color suits u or not, etc?

buy whatever u like, and dont care about other people, if u buy a watch just because u want other people to think it looks good on u, then u lose the purpose of buying it in the first place

Very much personal preference though.
I agree with this completely. I just traded an OP 39 for an OP 36 and for me it was the correct choice. Both look great but the 36mm version has what I'm after for the long haul.

I think of it like buying clothes. For instance, if you see a great shirt on someone with a different body type and want one for yourself. One day your at a store and see it. This is the exact same one and they even have your size but you get the next one up because that's what size a lot of other people wear.

Maybe it's silly because watches aren't exactly the same as clothes but maybe the message will be understood. Basically there are no rules, but at times things just work better for others.

I thought the same thing. Here's a comparison of both on a 7.25 wrist.

DD 36mm

Vs

DD40

My wrist is too big for a 36. Or, I feel it looks that way on.

Actually? If you look at it closely? We are given the illusion of that if we both look at the 36 and the 40? the Bezel is most likely the same, correct me if I am wrong as I don't have a 40mm. The case itself does wonders when you look at it.

This is where the caliper measurements kicks in. Hardly any difference by eyeball unless measured. Same as a size 9 shoe that at times depending on the width and shape you can get away with a 9.5 for its the only one left even if its on sale or expensive just co'z you want it really!

We all have our choices so pick the best for you.

Peace!!

I too struggled with this and was completely in the DD40 camp until I actually put them both on and off and on and off and ended up with the 36. Not sure the size of the wrist really matters, I'm no small man and several of my friends have the 36 as well. I've decided if I want a 40MM plus PM it will be the GMT II or the blue Sub. I'd highly suggest taking your own word instead of mine. Try them on.

40mm. Unfortunately the 36 looks like a woman's watch on my wrist. How I wish that wasn't the case.

Having worn a 36 since the mid '70's and stretching out 2 bands - it's my everyday watch. I'm really liking my DD40 that I recently 'exchanged' it for.

Yes, The 36 has more dials available, but the 40 does the trick for me, especially with the hands painted black. Date and Day are easier for me to read too.

With 7 3/4" wrists I need the 40mm. Any smaller and it looks odd on me.
