You're absolutely correct. Too many snowflakes.

I must say I am indignant with rage that the salesperson has not only failed to indentify your reference number but also have the audacity to suggest you would trade when EVERYONE knows you would never do that. To be honest this is yet another example of disrespect to ROLEX owners and people need to start realising ROLEX owners are special. Why just the other day whilst wearing my ROLEX no one opened the door for me at the shopping centre!! When shouting excuse me and flashing my 16710 in their face they not only failed to recognise the fact it was a z series but then suggested it may be a submariner!!! We live in a crazy world...

Only would have been inappropriate if she said we can give you 2k for your current one on trade for the GMT. Otherwise no harm no foul...

How do you know how old the op is? I'm an older mellennial and think the op is being a whiny baby.

I did say there were many exceptions. You are one of them.

Diet Coke?! I certainly hope not! Why not a regular Coke? Offering a diet Coke suggests the OP might need to loose a few pounds. I don't know about you, but I'd find that extremely insensitive and would immediately leave, purge whatever I had for lunch, lock myself in a dark closet and cry.

Then I'd contact my lawyer, file a civil action for libel and/or defamation, and accept as settlement their BLNR.

You're spot on, John. Some people can find offence anywhere and everywhere and yes, it's usually millenials.

Maybe if the OP had gone to his safe place and played with his stress toys for half an hour, he'd have been ok.

Absolutely unbelievable that anyone could take offence in a salesperson initiating a potential sale with an offer of a trade in.

Her offer suggests that the BLNR is an upgrade over your existing reference thereby placing them in a hierarchy with the BLNR on the top and your SubC beneath it.

I have prepared these diagrams to illustrate what I suspect was happening:

In the forum here there was a thread that attempted to determine the relative popularity of the models:

https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=80630

The result was 296-289 for the Sub date. I suspect the forum skews more towards the GMT Master than the general public; so why would the saleswoman do this?

For me this is a mystery...
If Chloe Grace Moretz was selling me a watch, I think I would keep trying to find an excuse to keep going back to the store.

PS - I don't think OP will ever come back to this thread, or TRF in general.

It's her job to ask for a sale. Don't understand how you could even be offended.

This has to be an early contender for the 2017 ridiculous thread award.

I missed this golden nugget initially, but I am by age considered a Millennial, which is why I gave my advice a few pages previous to the OP. Trust me I know people 10-15 years old than me that still get fired up over nothing just like OP. People hit the nail on the head, owning a Rolex gives you superiority over others? Absolutely Not.
