Then again, if a warning wasn't posted on the container label (or if he wasn't adequately informed by his MD about the potential side effects), Tiger Woods might have case here.
If it's true there was no booze involved, let's be honest, it's likely a nolo plea deal with community service, fine and maybe a suspended license. Still didn't make a good choice to get behind the wheel...but we (sadly) have seen far worse from our celebrities.

He could have drank 4-5 beer in 4-5 hours and be well under the legal limit.........therefore no alcohol was involved.........LOL..........but mix the two items........that's my bet what happened.

Oh well.

Who's next ? Should be someone in Hollywood......it's their turn now.

Someone more knowledgeable correct me if I am wrong but DUI is DUI, regardless whether under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or combination thereof.

He was recovering from recent back surgery. Having gone through it myself recently as well, he is probably on anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers, OPIOIDs and/or nerve meds, and had to know fully well what they do to him. It's a potent cocktail and no way I was able get behind the wheel in good conscious. I am a poor slob next to Tiger and managed to have someone drive me around for 8 weeks. No excuse for him.

Well.......to be fair to Tiger, he hasn't been able to drive straight for about 10 years now.

Badda bing.

I can't wait for the internet memes this week.

Why would anybody say 'waste of talent'? He is worth $740 million bucks and earned 14 Major Championships....sounds to me like he maxed out his talent more than anybody on this forum, he also donates money to charity and does 'give back' . So what he got picked up for a DUI...life goes on.

PGA Tour wins (79)
European Tour wins (40)
Japan Golf Tour wins (2)
Asian Tour wins (1)
PGA Tour of Australasia wins (1)
Other professional wins (16)
Amateur wins (21)

That's funny.

Tiger's BS prescription drug excuse? That's sad.

I'm pretty sure prescription drugs don't register on a breathalyzer test....

Amen. An awful lot of judgement getting passed on this thread.
TW is not the first (or last) pro athlete to cheat on his/her spouse, be an a-hole to fans, and to get picked up for a DUI. In fact, I may have just described 33.3% of pro athletes.

Congrats to those who want to kick him while he's down. Keep walking on water.

Exactly..

He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at the..

Glass house and all that..

I hope whatever happened it gets better for him and thankfully no one was injured if in fact.

I remember at school, while living at the dorm at just 18 I was caught drinking and driving not far from UNLV and police said park my car and call for a ride. I've never done it again.

No. This just means that he's a reprehensible human being in every facet of life except one. Being a wealthy and gifted golfer doesn't make him any less the loser.

His downward spiral started when his dad died he kept a tight rein on that boy kept him focused on the game I'm glad he didn't break Nicholas's record.

So? How does the fact that one third of pro athletes are jerks changes the fact that he was arrested for DUI?

I'm sorry but I have no sympathy whatsoever for drunk drivers regardless of their name or fame.

This thread is exemplary of what's wrong with this world.

True that at this time, these are "charges" and he is entitled to a defense in a court of law. To say that in response to this event is understandable. To ferociously defend him, knowing how many folks have lost friends and family to drunk drivers is yet sadder than his DUI.

Every time I see one of these events in the news, I just think of how many people immediately say "it wasn't me", I am "not guilty", only to eventually beg for forgiveness.

A lot of people here are defending him. Read the posts about his wealth, talent, tour victories, empathy, and sympathy. We are supposed to be sad for him. Boo hoo.

His PR/legal team are already in full damage control. You don't think Tiger wrote that statement, do you?

There is no excuse for anyone to get behind the wheel intoxicated, whatever the poison may be. You are risking both your life and the life of others. I sympathize with the Tiger for the issues that are at the root cause of his poor decision making but these types of things are very black & white. What may be driving them probably are not but unfortunately to get those remedied Tiger will have to admit to himself he needs real help.

I see both sides but I don't think I see a lot of defending here. What I read here are some people who would choose a more compassionate response.

I too have lost loved ones (plural) to drinking and driving. It doesn't make me hate the man who who killed my 4 friends. He will live with the consequences for the rest of his life.

I also have an alcoholic brother who struggles still at age 54. Alcoholism is a disease not a choice.

Isn't it better to seek help for people in need, rather than condem them as a loser?

I don't see anyone defending him, or feeling bad for him. Myself included.

I just find the situation sad.

I felt the Aaron Hernandez situation was sad too, and I don't feel sad for Aaron Hernandez.

Examples like these just show how difficult life truly is. Even with people that apparently have it all, we all still have demons inside. Living like royalty can actually make those demons harder to understand and control.

And it's sad.

I also see depression as a disease. And sometimes people choose to medicate the wrong way in order to cope. And sometimes it all goes terrible wrong.

And it's sad.

Doesn't matter what he's worth. He WAS a great golfer. He could still be a great golfer. Cheating on his wife, acting like an ass to his fans and the public and now this most recent bs are all unacceptable. I will admit I'm sensitive to this topic having lost a family member to a drunk driver. However, Tiger is just an a-hole with a god given talent that he has been wasting for the past several years. You see his mug shot? That's not from mixing a couple of prescription pills. That's from partying like a rockstar all night. He should thrown off the PGA.
