Not if he's a buyer in good standing.

Myself I don't accept PayPal unless I know the buyer unless on eBay where you must

Does the paypal address and the address you are sending match? If not, I would pass....

I would also want a specified invoice when buying from someone unknown.

Paypal gift has risks for the seller too. A buyer can fund the gift with a credit card and then do a "chargeback" with their credit card company.

To me, it would boil down to who the buyer is and the value of the item.

PayPal to Germany

If you offered the item with PayPal as an option, and didn't limit international buyers, the request from your German buyer seems normal.

But on the other hand, if you had limited either option, then decline...

[edit: now having seen your listings, and the relative prices for them, I'd say you aren't risking as much as a watch. But if you're still concerned, perhaps add some boilerplate to your listings about international buyers and payment methods...]

Don't think the country or nationality of the buyer is relevant. If you can't verify the buyer than by wire only.

But do NOT pay as a "GIFT"
You MUST pay for "services" pay PayPal commission - then you have 100% protection.

Two rules
1) Always pay as a service, NOT a gift
2) No part payments - must pay in one payment.

I deal a lot with PayPal, and buyer is very protected

Regards
adam
