Fun day at Carmel, California... selecting grail watch at AD

(Disclaimer: No bank accounts were harmed during the making of the following pictures. No purchase took place. )

Took the family to Carmel for a fun day at my favorite beach city.

While there, dropped by at the awesome AD 'Fourtane' there. Wow, what a beautiful selection at hand. BLNR, BLRO, LV, Platona, DSSD Blue, SD4k, just to name a few... and a fantastic few Daytonas pave diamond dials, vintage Pepsis, ...

Should have taken more pics at the AD, but was too busy having fun and trying on some grail potentials.

Here are some shots from the visit and afterwards at the beach, that I think you might like.

My wife tried on and is now in love with RG Daytona. But then she tried on a vintage gold day date with special dial from year 2000 that was gorgeous. I tried on and loved (as I thought I would ) the RG day date green dial.

Needless to say, as soon as my lottery wins, I know where my first stop would be. :)

Hope you enjoy these pictures.

My LV having fun at the beach:

My favorite day date green dial:

The wife trying on her favorite pieces: RG Daytona with diamond buns:

And the interesting dial vintage day date: ( anyone know what this dial was called? )

Thanks. Yes the same watch. What a beautiful dial.

It was also priced similar to the HQMilton link you posted above, about $17k ish.

Thank you guys.

That Daytona is just a beautiful piece at list price of $35k (obviously discounts will apply). Will need to park the idea for now until perhaps our 25th anniversary in four years, as that is a substantial purchase.

Our 20th anniversary last year was marked by a 31mm Datejust diamond bezel which is my favorite watch of hers by far, which sadly spends most of its time in bank safety Dep box. Below is a pic of that beauty together with her daily wearer Daytona.

Great to know the red vignet day date is available from other sources too. Pictures don't do it justice. Really nice piece in person ( and I am not a fan of some of the funky dials that Rolex has. )

That is also a great looking grail watch. indeed.

The picture here doesn't do it justice. The problem seeing it in that AD was the variety of other gorgeous grail watches that surrounded it there, each with its own jaw dropping beauty. For example there was also a platinum day date with ice blue dial that was a whole different league and oh so ...

On a side note, I have never been a fan of pave diamond dials. But some of the examples I saw yesterday were jaw droppingly beautiful and would look fantastic on a woman dressed to go to Oscars, something similar to this for example:

if you enjoy Carmel, stop by during the Monterey Car Week when Fourtane has their open house/vintage event, usually on Saturday evening. Josh and company hold a great event with tons of watches and a number of vintage dealers with some amazing pieces.

Great pics, looks like a fun day. Those LVc pics on the beach are the height of enabling! Can't wait to pick mine up in a few weeks and head to the shore.

Was told about it. Will try and go then. Usually at Monterey the weekend of motorcycle racing in July. Never been to the car week though.

Lovely staff / know their stuff. Not like many chain ADs. Such a relaxed environment. Last time I was in the neighborhood, the family was headed toward the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Hoping to get some "me" time at Fourtain on the next trip!

Our Member Sheldon Smith, publisher of https://www.minus4plus6.com/, is a local I believe. Hopefully he will get another GTG going there someday. I missed the last one or two a number of years back. Judging by the photos, it was pretty epic!

What fun!! Your wife has superb taste. My daily wearer is also a white 116520 and I, too, dream of a RG Daytona (on bracelet with ivory dial)!!!!

We have yearly passes to the aquarium but don't make it down that way often enough. I will surely use he aquarium excuse more often now to drop in at Fourtain. :) A get together would be awesome.
