D Series Stainless Daytona, Good Deal or Not?

I have any opportunity to buy a "D" Series Stainless Daytona, Black Dial with box and papers. Like new condition. The price is $7700. Do you think that is a good deal or not?

Also does the D series have the fat hands or does it have the thin hands?

Thanks for your input.

Joe

Actually sounds almost too good to be true. Is the seller "vetted" ?

This is a seller in my area so it would be a face to face purchase.

One last question. Is there any difference between a D, Z or M series SS Daytona. I know the M and some Z's have the etched inner ring. Are there any other differences?

Thanks...

No...virtually none..

The only changes for the Daytona since the release of the 116520 in 2000 is the etched rehaut, and the very latest models have the GMT IIc clasp.

I just spoke to the seller and we are going to meet tomorrow. The only thing that will kill this deal is if he does not have the papers. He said he knows he has the box. He has to look to see if he has the papers.

I won't buy it without the papers.

Thanks for all of the input.

I think I might pass. I just spoke to the seller again and he does not have the warranty papers. He has the original box and manual.

What do you think. Would you buy it without papers?

Thanks again for all of your input.

If it's in excellent condition and authentic; of course I would buy it for that price without the outdated and worthless warranty card...

Why ever not, it's not a puppy.... that card is of zero value in this deal..

NO papers would not deter me. Buy the watch, not the packaging. Especially on face to face deal.

see whehter he has the oroiginal invoice. The warranty card is useful only to autnticate the purchase becasue the warranty is over. Or you could just take it to a dealer and authenticate it.

I wouldn't worry about the warranty so long as you can have the watch authenticated by someone competent prior to purchase. For me this would include opening up the caseback.

Good luck...sounds like a great deal!

Although others here are right about the papers not mattering in this transaction, for some reason I just want them in my purchases. It's just me though and the deal you speak of sounds great, ceteris paribus.

Do all the appropriate research...
