Rolex 116233 (Datejust 36) Acquired

Well, I've always wanted a Datejust. In the recent past, there was a vast difference between the classic 36 and the oversized (IMO) Datejust 2. The former had the Jubilee with cool hidden clasp, roulette (aka 2-color date), and more dial choices.
-
But recent updates have leveled the playing field, whereby the 36 loses the hidden clasp, roulette date, and some dial choices, whilst the bigger version - named "41" - is more svelte and has the jubilee available. Before, I would choose the 36 without question, but now would likely opt for the 41 in terms of a new watch.
-
So, I decided to go for the previous generation (used) - in particular the 116233 2-tone 36 model. I found a rare dial (jubilee Arabic numerals is classic non-concentric) that was only available around 2003-5; so, all of these versions are F series models. They all came with jubilee & hidden clasp and roulette date (red on odd days - Tudor watches are red on even days). This particular one came with box & papers in excellent condition and was purchased new in 2006; still includes the green hologram label on back.
-
Although difficult to photograph, it is impressive. It also wears bigger than I expected. Glad to have it in my collection.

I initially underestimated jubilee but there is no better bracelet than Rolex jubilee.

Huge congrats! The 116233 was my first Rolex. Extremely comfortable band. I was in for a 116610LN and walked out with the 116233 after trying it on.

Cool! Yes, I underestimated the Jubilee when I bought my DJ on oyster a while back.
I too prefer the classic 36mm over the bigger stuff. Except the sport models anyway
Nice choice!
