Very curious how one comes to a conclusion that the LV Monogram is a status symbol for "Orientals". Depending on how this comment is interpreted, it can be constrewed as somewhat racist. Probably not your intent, but in any event, it would be appreciated from all "Oriental" members on this forum if you kept these types of one-sided comments to yourself.

Except for one poorly constructed comment, this is a good thread. Hopefully it won't change direction and end up as a platform for expressing opinions not related to the original post.
That being said, I appreciate LV for its quality and customer service. I have a keychain that has a sliding ring. One of my keys had a hole too small for the ring, and it mangled the ring so that it would no longer function. The ring then broke.
I took it to a store, prepared to explain my dilemma. The associate kindly spared me my speech, disappeared for a few minutes and brought me a brand new keychain without question. She further explained: French keys typically have a shape that fit the ring just fine, but if I ever had another issue they would replace it again.
I was so inspired I actually enlarged the key hole with a file so I wouldn't damage another ring.
Examine any new LV piece, and you will find absolute perfection in construction, which contributes to long life. That, combined with impeccable customer service is why you pay for LV.
As for the splash of monograms, who am I to question a design created in 1896?

seeing as how this thread is really moving top shelf real quick, anyone have the latest LV watches too? i heard they're going to the next level with watchmaking which i guess makes sense since LVMH has other watch marques to lean on.

Agreed. This thread is a good one, aside from that one issue. Personally, love LV and feel they compliment Rolex very well. Will post a couple of my pieces later today.

I love LV. Just a very high quality durable product and the sales people know their line perfectly. This wallet is basically bullet proof. My wife has a bag and some luggage, and they take a beating better than her rolex.

I just shat myself laughing, without levity we are naught. I have been with my Oriental 27 years and used to jest with her that when Japanese girls are sprouted from their rice paddys they are automatically issued an LV bag, Ferragamo shoes, and a TT Oyster. This was truer in the early 90s but her LV collection is vast. I admire LVs vintage steamer trunks, but don't own anything yet personally although I do like their belts.

So what? Who cares if you lived in the Orient for many, many years. Maybe in your mind, this makes you an expert in all aspects of Oriental way of life and gives you a right to cast these types of narrow-minded comments.

No offence meant? Too bad you can't turn back time.

I don't do bags, but my wife is into LV. She has two bags one for casual one for evening wear. I think the LV damier card holder looks boss and almost got one myself, but the material was too stiff for me. Ended up getting a Burberry card holder which was a little softer and more flexible to begin with.

I just ordered my wife a LV bag for Christmas. The whole time I was thinking:"for a little bit more, I could get another Rolex!!!"
